Huh, well im thinking of software (AI), not hardware(droids/robots). Would there be a difference with that?
-
Kinda the SW droids droids being short for androids implies they have AI OS software an they kinda have to cuz: They are aware of their environment and can recognize individuals and objects in that environment They are androids ant they know that they are androids and they can tell each other apart so; They are both conscious and self aware With out onboard AI OS they would just be computers and non mobile objects only capable of performing simple functions. Take a robotic vacuum cleaner (real life) for example: it can move through the environment but not identify actual things inside that environment and it has no idea what itself actually is so; It is only semi conscious and not self aware at all. Vs 3p0 and r2d2: Those two can identify objects and individuals in their environment, they can tell each other apart as individuals and they both are aware of exactly what they are; So they are both conscious and self aware. Does that help?

Strangely yes, but can the SW universe droids( R2 for example) upload a part of themself to a system? Not just commands like unlocking doors, but rather being able to digitally explore a system with their perspective.

Some what: when R2 interfaces with a computer node his on board software sends communication cmd code strings to the network he is interfacing with and vice versa: Its like plugging your computer into the internet or a lan network and then sending a text or chat message. Your computer's Operating System never leaves your terminal node (pc) but allows you to communicate with the network and vice versa. And like your computer's OS and the fire wall protecting your computer from un authorized attacks or communications from the network; Droids have a semi physical separation from their main functional AI OS and the software they use to communicate with computer network interfaces.

Right. But how fast can they process the information then?

Edited by DarthBrando: 9/1/2015 6:14:39 AMWell its like a text or chat msg in principle but its waaaay different. When R2 interfaces with a computer network that has an on board AI (like the cloud city network that told him the falcons hyperdrive was disabled) he talks to the AI within the network to find what he needs or do what hes trying to do. When R2 interfaces with a network with no AI (like the death star computer imperial network) he has to go through the file structure of the network to find what hes looking for or do what hes trying to do. When R2 interfaces with a binary machine node (open a door or activate industrial machinery) he has to go through the program functions of the device to activate the one he wants to in order to open the door or shut down or activate something. Speed depends on size and organization of the network and R2's processor rate

The three laws of robotics dont apply to true AI. Its the AIs own morals and thoughts that affects their actions
-
As far as i know, most "AIs" have some for of reason. If not then its a VI.

But it needs a plantet to provide a shield tho(like endor)
-
Only while under construction; once completed the onboard power generator and shield generators can take over, they cant while incomplete cuz: Those parts were partially still being completed The open sections would cause issues due to un even support for the fields integrity which is why the larger planet side shield was needed Plus the construction crews needed to get in and out of sections that the completed onboard shield field would usually make non accessible.
