We have Flamethrower Warthogs. Flamethrower. Hogs. Yeah, I bet your current pleb tier non-Halo Custom Edition game doesn't offer that. And Nukes! What's more fun than going around and Nuking your Enemies? Nuking your teammates, that's what! Bask in the glory of modded levels. Revel in the beauty of maps designed specifically for you to destroy those scrubs you call competition.
"But Zonda, My computer sucks, and there's no way I can think about online gaming in this state!"
Never fear, almost any computer released after 1998 is capable of supporting Halo PC on it's lowest graphics settings.
"What if I want to play Campaign instead of Multiplayer?"
On top of having some sweet modded versions of the Campaign itself, there are also several completely custom Singleplayer levels up for grabs on halomaps.org and they're free!
"I'm not a fan of the current playerbase. It's full of trolls and the lack of team cohesion is annoying."
I'm making plans to get a server up and running, that's 24/7, and exclusive to the b.net community, where you know you'll be up against some great players. There's also the option to get your friends in on the fun and have some sweet LAN parties. My fandom for Halo started when copies of Halo were distributed amongst students of my school to be played on the school server during free time. Maybe you'll get somebody new into the playerbase as well.*
"Ugh, it's a 12 year old game on a 14 year old engine. Just let it die already."
Actually, the potential for this game is only just starting to be realised. With add-ons such as Opensauce and HAC 2, the Graphics are looking as sharp as ever, and there are several projects that are still in the works, that I believe you'll all have a vested interest in. Some maps take up to 7 years of development before they're released, so just sit tight and let the good times roll.
"Didn't GameSpy shut down the servers to Halo PC?"
Yes, but the rights to host servers were acquired by a third party company, meaning the Online is still as good as ever. Unfortunately, the same can't be said for Halo 2 Vista.
"Why can't I just wait for the upcoming Installation 01 fan-made game to be released instead?"
¿Por que no lõs dos? There is no denying that I01 will have significantly stronger engine, on top of some fine maps, but Halo CE has behind it 12 years of Custom Maps and mods being released, and arguably has a greater diversity in it's gameplay. Get the best of both worlds. Play both.
"I'm still not convinced I should get it."
Did I mention:
-Driveable Golden Warthogs
-Driveable Scarabs
-Scarab Guns in MP
-AI in Multiplayer
-Nostalgic Zelda, Mario, GoldenEye 007, etc. maps.
-A Singleplayer map where you play as a Flood combat form?
You're doing yourself a major disservice by not playing this game. Turn that around.
*Pirating is wrong, kids! Always use legitimate copies of Halo and other games.
I used to play the multiplayer almost every day for a year like 2013. Might get back into itm It is very fun. I like simpler multiplayee games.
