This method is easily the safest way to kill Crota imo. Don't get me wrong, lots of things can go wrong here, especially when Crota moves to the far end of the platform, let alone missing your jump to the rocks or dropping the sword where not intended! Execution is key, but with enough practice, killing Crota can become a cakewalk [whatever that looks like:)].
