So shoutout to:
Esa is Cool
The Hammer 247
So I started with a fresh Skolas run with Esa and a squeaker who was arguing with his cousin (I was pretty annoyed about this).
Anyway we get to Round 3 relatively quickly (The Cabal arc burn round), and halfway through, the squeakers cousin grabs the power cord and yanks it. We can't dismantle mines due to sudden lag and then we wipe.
We then went to find a bubble Titan, and got Hammer to play with us. He had never beaten Skolas but understood the mechanics quite well. He was also really patient and mature about the whole thing.
So anyway, we cruise through Round 4 and 5 with relatively no trouble, and then we get to Skolas.
It took us 7-9 tries but we got it. On the 7th attempt we missed out killing him by one Gally rocket, worst feeling ever.
The last attempt to down him was probably the most stressful. There was a clutch moment when both of my teammates died during the dismantle mines section and I had to go and dismantle both (The stress was unbearable).
Then there was the bit when I went down with Hammer and all the adds were up, forcing Esa to clutch and revive us using his blade dancer with one second on the taint to spare.
But the joy from downing him again and from our newbie The Hammer 247 made it all worth it.
But yeah, anyway what I really wanted to say is:
Take time to help someone through a new raid, or show them the ropes at Trials. The joy you receive from helping someone is always worth your time :)
And to be honest, it doesn't matter if you are the best destiny player on Earth.

Anyone know the final round modifiers?

Tonight I'm helping 2 of my friends beat Skolas for the first time. I've beaten Skolas with a complete random and a friend without a mic once, and the 2 friends I'm helping tonight are decent players. We should be fine, but hopefully it doesn't take hours

Good, the community needs people like you. If you're on Xbox one and ever need some one to help out with some ones first time doing a raid or PoE you can add me, gt is the same. I have experience in all the raids and am always willing to help out.

Bump, you sir are awesome
-
Awesome! Two random dude from LFG and myself beat him a couple weeks ago for the 1st time. We had some struggles, but everyone kept cool and just kept plugging away.
-
This game needs more people like you I beat it a couple days ago with my clan and not once did they get mad if I made a mistake ( trust me a lot of mistakes were made lol ) some take the game way to real but this made my day hope you keep doing this

I take my time in the raids and tey to get new people to learn how to use relic/sword. I can do it almost perfectly but i find the lack of good bearers really frustrating and don't want to end up be the bearwr everytime. To learn people run relic is way harder then sword and i love the reactions from someone who runs sword for the first time to get a kill on crota.

Good stuff. I'm pretty sure that's what Bungie likes to see when the community acts like a community.

Its really funny how people with low Grimoire have killed skolas yet some 3400+ people haven't.

Good job! I have so far 6 people I know have seen the beauty of the lighthouse for the first time thanks to me and my team. Keep it up! Everyone should get the sweet chance to tbag skolas after owning him.

Been helping for the last week and a half. Most players are pretty good they just need a chance to play. Sorry you had to wipe so many times the most i have to was two or three. If any body needs help I will try and do it. Best time is this thursday through monday.

Edited by mpuchar: 9/1/2015 1:54:40 AMI've taken 4 people though their first skolas completion, i've also spent hrs showing people how to use the sword on crota... I don't have much to do until ttk drops so i don't mind. Plus it feels good watching their reaction after their first completion. I just wish people would invest in fallen rampart armor if they're serious about beating skolas. It really makes it so much easier. We need more guardians like you. Keep up the good work

I need help :(

Glad to see not everyone is an asshole. Always get kicked when trying to do a 34/35 PoE because I have not yet done them
-
I helped my friend who had never done to skolas before without any ascended weapons or max gally through skolas the other day so he could get his triumph :)
