This was the battle of the six fronts, a front for each of the six entrances into the city. Each location was lead by a commander, these six commanders were later remembered as the Iron Lords. (Timir, Felwinter, and so on.) The Titans were in charge of the city's defense, lead by Saladin. His tactics could have been questioned by Zavala and Shaax, yet carried out anyway. If they didn't agree with his methods that could have caused the tension. We don't know so this is all theory on my end. Well the not to repeat myself too much the Iron Lords were in command of each front. There were several others in this fight, one of which was a titan Exo. Saint-14, lost in battle, his body never recovered, his helmet is all we have left of him. We were outnumbered and outgunned in this fight. We would have lost if it weren't for a group of scavangers who pillaged the battlefield remains of twilight gap. The armor shards were reforged and created into Gjallarhorn. That weapon was mass deployed to each front and turned the tide of battle and we survived, but it was too late. The traveler still went inert. This again is speculation, we don't know. The only differance is us as guardians have powers a ordinary Human or Awoken don't have because we have been reborn in light. Anyway at the rise of the Golden Age Humanity ventured into the stars as far out as the astroid belt. There we colonized, when the darkness came the Traveler expelled it's light and pushed back the darkness as far as it could. This force brought disaster to the astroid belt. The torrent of light and dark became the reef. The Humans that were caught in the wake of this catastrophe were forever scarred by it. They bacame the Awoken from the fallout and they rebuilt what they could, the vestian outpost. When the fallen came for the traveler the Awoken fought them. The ones that though all was lost fled the reef for earth. This act was seen as defiance and the queen called back her people only once to be forgiven of there fears. Some returned, however the Awoken that stayed on Earth were forever exiled from the reef as cowards. That is why Reef Awoken don't like Earth Awoken.
