Bruce/Caitlyn's decision to reveal his/her preferred gender identity was and is not a sports story. A social story perhaps, and if a group associated with the lgbt community or president Obama wanted to award him/her with an award for this decision, it would make sense. Not a sports awards show though. They believed a social issue was more important than a girl who was diagnosed with cancer and played basketball up until her dying day to fulfill her dream. Makes sense. At least in someone's mind it did.
