Any joke where a trans person is involved is automatically transphobic? If the point is to accept trans people and treat them like people, fairly and equally, why should they be exempt from a joke? He even stated the joke, as lame as it was, wasn't meant to be transphobic. People just jumped to conclusions too quickly. As does the majority of society these days. But yeah, I see nothing transphobic here. Just a bad attempt at humor.
