It's simple. Bungie wants to 'help' the community by addressing the common player's complaints.
Example (which leads to the main topic) - dead orbit packages gives a guy 4 bittersteel and a hanged man, but no revenant or femi solution. Fine. That person feels less compelled to play this game after playing for 8 months.
So bungie tries to make this game more convenient for players that are grinding. Once we obtain a shader, it can be stored and saved in a digital realm that is separate from the vault. Also, this shader can now be duplicated across characters. In addition, once you receive a shader, emblem or ship it will be removed from your future loot pool. Cool right?
Well, Bungie still wants players to put in just as much time towards this game as before. If anything, Bungie wants you to have to play more to still obtain what you want. But how does that make sense?
It's called deception. Let me spell it out for you - how do you level factions up? It's quite a simple thing: it's leveling up with reputation points.
So how is this related to the nightfalls? Well, Bungie is making some modifications to make it harder to level up your factions. We're supposedly gaining buffs to our rep for basic things, such as bounties. But I guarantee you that Bungie wouldn't be going through the trouble of calling the nightfall buffs an exploit for players to continuously grind it out on the beginning of each week without a specific reason; you really think Bungie gives a crap about that? They are trolling the shit out of you guys. It's actually quite funny.
Bungie has done things like this in the past as well. Remember when cryptarch ranks were so easy to level up? Bungie made it twice as hard to level them up claiming that your chances for obtaining legendaries after each rank went up. That's a half truth. They could've made it 10% more likely to get that crap while it's easily twice as hard to rank up. Nobody complained, but they did what they wanted anyway to make the game harder for players to have things done by their preferences.
It's your choice if you want to believe me or not, but don't say I didn't warn you. Don't expect that hanged man to come so easily, because knowing Bungie your rewards will be more difficult to obtain than ever before.
*edit - some of you people can't read if your lives depended on it. For those of you with half a brain: Bungie's purpose with deceiving you all is to keep you addicted to the game. Whether you're happy or not with their choices is irrelevant. Why do you all think that many of your beloved weapons will be capped at the year 1 ascension when TTK arrives? Use what little brain cells you all have to realize what is going on.
*edit 2 - with this lack of additional support from the nightfall's buff, this will result to making red bull codes more desirable. Just some food for thought to those sheepys that aren't convinced.
Edit* I was right. You can all suck my balls now.

I understand what your saying but its just not that big a deal, if anything I'm glad there is no longer a buff so I don't feel like I need to knock them all out Tuesday. Plus if u want to build rep up u can trade most anything in to get motes which can be traded for rep
-
People have to be pretty blind to not see this. Just another gear to grind.
-
They specifically said that xp and rep activities would award more of each to make up for the nightfall buff being gone until they found a better solution. This huge post and all you accomplished was making yourself look like a stupid bitch.

Yeah man

Words... Uh, words.

Really had enough of you moaners its like its the end of your world

Edited by Omnitron310: 8/30/2015 11:29:05 AM>Claims Bungie is lying or tricking us. >Deliberately misunderstands what Bungie has said, and even makes up shit (Bungie never called the Nightfall an exploit). >Insults those who disagree with him. >Uses the term 'sheep' unironically. Classic tin-foil hat wearing, conspiracist douche. Bungie is not some Illuminati movement trying to deceive us. They're just game devs trying to improve their game. Even if your fears are true, and it does take a bit more rep to level up factions, then oh well. Big deal. Why do you even care so much?
-
I personally don't find it to be a big deal. We can now have 32 bounties at a time, and all bounties rep goes to our faction IN ADDITION to the main rep gain on the bounty, so even if we don't have a 12% EXP boost, you will get more EXP via bounties per day than before anyways, so long as you do those bounties. And faction rep level-up requirements remain the same, along with us (obviously) keeping our current rep level.
-
Have you checked to see if your tinfoil hat is on too tight?

Muted, you have absolutely no reading comprehension whatsoever. They clearly say in the update in order to compensate for the lack of buff they were increasing rep and exp gains across the board. It's going to be the 20% that the buff originally provided. No to mention you still get the legendary mark and faction rep. You mention the cryptarch packages in which they plainly stated that they were reducing the amount of rep by half and you got for an increased chance (I will admit this is BS myself as I have gotten maybe 5-10 legendaries since said patch) ,but in this instance they ACTUALLY stated how much it was being decreased by. Also, if you recall what was said in videos they actually said they were making so you get faction and vanguard/crucible rank side by side now. So how is slowing anything down? I swear every day it's like some new moron finds one little quote or leaves out the rest of the details just to make an argument for themselves and calling anyone that disagrees a troll. It must be amazing to live in blissful ignorance.

Where did Bungie say that the Nightfall buff was an exploit? Links? Pics? Everybody is always like "ZOMG BUNGIE CALLED NIGHTFALL BUFF EXPLOIT", but I never saw the word exploit used once. Bungie was unhappy with how the buff worked, they wanted it to be more of a mark of prestige rather than something everybody felt they needed.

The system is corrupt!

FUK!! Is a portion of the Destiny community becoming CONSPIRACY THEORISTS! I am so sad right now

Tin foil hats Illuminati conspiracy theory coming on his next update
-
They said they were removing the bud temporarily until they can figure out a way to make it work the way they want it to, instead of it being a reason for people to only run the nightfall on Tuesday and not on other days of the week. They also said that xp and rep gains would be increased to counteract the loss of the xp boost

I like this post

Edited by MrDrCaptAwesome: 8/30/2015 6:59:33 AMApparently you failed to read "We've adjusted sources of XP and Reputation up to account for its absence" that he said in the update.
-
Eh, big deal, just a video game.
-
Bungie isn't a secret government illuminati agency devoted to making you spend more time in a game. I don't know why all you people have this mindset. But Bungie did state that XP and rep will be earned faster to compensate for the removal of the nightfall buff.
-
Wow, this information is awesome, thank you so much for wasting the past 5 minutes of my life. I can never get that back! Another fukin moron! Dude it's a fukin video game!!!! Play it or don't! That freakin simple!
-
It's a little rep bonus. 20%. That makes that big of a deal? They're gonna close the gap on that too. I feel like this is an overreaction to a bit of news that was actually explained pretty clearly. If that means you can't handle getting 10 rep instead of 12, or 25 instead of 30, then there's a problem. Sure they add up with the bigger bounties, but even with a ten percent bonus, it's not gonna be that bad. And who said they're adding on a rep total for rank up? That's pure speculation if I'm not mistaken. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, but you're jumping to a lot of conclusions.
-
If they are doing it for the casuals, they are doing a terrible job. Casuals want matchmaking for every mode but bungie being hardheaded.
-
So you're telling me that the changes to nightfall is so that I grind longer for a shader? I don't play this game to grind for a shader. Also if Bungie wanted me to keep grinding, they would've kept the old leveling system for armor/light. Thank you, come again.
-
Guaranteed better rewards for a little bit more rank up time is a fair trade off anyways.
-
-
The reason is actually that people that need nightfall rewards play on the weekend, and people that beat the nightfalls play on Tuesdays.
