Hot damn...!? What does even mean? Isn't that something Mickey Mouse says? Sorry no troll, I just truly do not get that saying - of course without a Wiki search, I understand it but, I just don't get it.

  • It's basically slang. An excuse for not fully saying God damn.

  • Oh right...thanks. So essentially its used by someone who is religiously guided, to a degree.

  • not necessarily, it's idiomatic at this point -- kinda like how someone saying 'bless you' to someone else after they've sneezed doesn't necessarily mean they really think that person's soul is attempting to escape their body or whatever. most likely anyone saying 'hot damn' will be from the southeastern part of the country though.

  • Necro-response! Yes, I gathered that obviously, I was being rather more intentional with my response to gain insight into the other persons point of view. You know, as bread crumbs are to lay down the best intention of mice and men, as was I in order to better grasp his frame of reference rather than the actual idiom itself...context is king. But thank you for you belated reply. How have You handled the TK HM Raid so far.

Yep...not American! So that would make me an Alien due to the fact that I'm not from your country.
Assuming your 1) American and 2) Not from Aus
Silly question to some, but Hot Damn, is just A) NEVER ever used in ANY of my dealings in the history of communication with global peeps at Biz level or casual level and B) it seems a little antediluvian and parochial. I heard it used on the Mickey Mouse show once, when my son was watching and being brainwashed - lol. No offense to anyone and sorry for my stupidity...just never got that saying even though I understood it basic meaning, it was the "why of it" and not the "what" that slipped my cerebellum.

  • Definitely not American. Hot damn is just a very common phrase. There is no "why" involved in the phrase. Just a simple exclamation.
