I can tell you what 'tactics' he taught her, and they're not tactics. He simply gouged her eyes out and replaced them with the hive eyes you see. That way they would look at her in the shadows and see her as one of their own. It was the only way she could survive. I'm still kinda curious what she ate, but I'm really not /that/ curious, cuz I kinda suspect. BLECK!!!!
