There are no ramifications, that's how these type of games work. You grind to collect; use whatever you've collected for that time period of the game's life; then when the game moves on in life, to higher levels, you repeat the process. It's not bungie's fault that it seems a lot of people that are playing destiny dont have experience at these type of games, and became so attached to a year 1 weapon in a planned 10 year game. That's all on the players.
I've enjoyed gally like the next guardian, but i'm fine with it being left behind. I'll still have the memories of enjoyment i created using it, i'll still have at least 1 in the vault, and i'll still use from time to time, but it's time to move on. Just how i used other weapons to beat everything in year 1 before i got gally, i'll use other weapons to beat everything in year 2 without gally or until i find a new 'gally'. I suggest others do the same.
