Offtopic has zero resemblance to The Flood outside of the fact they are/were the site's offtopic forum section. Forum mentality has changed, there is a whole new generation of users, two different franchises, separating the two. Offtopic is an offshoot of the Destiny community, The Flood was for Halo. The new users have defined this place for themselves but some still cling to the past simply because they want to feel relevant to the veteran members. And if you think that justifies Offtopic being the Flood you are sadly mistaken. Ask any other 4+ year member and you will get the exact same answer.
If anyone is hanging onto the past, it's you and anyone else that is desperately clinching onto territory they have no knowledge of.

The Flood wasn't for Halo. This isn't for Destiny. This is for a Bungie community that is growing and changing. If you feel entitled to your date associated with your user so be it. But it changes nothing.
-
When something changes, it is not as it once was, correct? Pretty simple train of thought, really.
-
It isn't what it once was but it's still it
-
If by "it", you mean "the place you go when you want to talk about things that aren't related to Bungie's current-most game", then you would be correct. If by "it", you're referring to the way the forums used to be before the name change, then you would be wrong. What made those forums those, was the users. Of which, 80% or so of them have left.
-
And what does that mean? 20 percent still here right?
-
Most of those stick to the groups. I would say >4% of the older posters still post. At that point, it's no longer what it used to be. The change is too substantial. You can call it whatever you like, that doesn't make it what it used to be.
-
When was this ever about me saying it's what it used to be?
-
You've been saying "it's still the flood!" The entire time. The flood is what it used to be. not what it currently is.
-
The Flood is the community. It changed, it isn't gone. What you said is the Flood isn't the same, which is true, it's drastically different but if there's people here, the Flood is here.
-
No, the community is the community. The flood community, which is comprised of posters pre-2014, is gone. It's like saying a square is a rectangle. You can be a community member, that doesn't make you a floodian. They aren't mutually synonymous.
-
Says who?
-
Says common logic. I just explained everything supporting my claim.
-
Your explanation was things changed and now it doesn't exist.
-
My explanation was "The community is defined by it's members. The members left, so now it's different.".
-
Not all of them.
-
A good enough portion for it to change. We covered this already.
-
Who decides what portion that is?
-
Someone who has been here to see them go. More than you can say. Why do you want to fall under the moniker so badly anyways?
-
I don't care about titles, but if someone like you does go for it
