24+ hour stream on 9/15 starting at 5am eastern!
So I'm a newb streamer. I plan on getting a playstation camera in the future to stream more, but I need pointers.
I am a girl and everyone says that I need to show cleavage to get a lot of views. I really don't want that. Granted I will freshen up though and wear makeup and dress appropriately but Can you give me pointers and advice? I have some past broadcasts and would love if anyone with some free time could check them out. Lately I have some cod ones so please excuse those.
I understand having a schedule helps, but I don't plan on making one until I get a camera.
Thank you so much ahead of time!!!!!

WHAT I HAVE LEARNED:
Nightbot
Be yourself, dress as you would normally.
Don't be monotone, speak well and address audience.
If camera shy, place picture beneath camera to help.
Help viewers every once in a while.
Don't straight up ask for donations.
Check other high up streams for examples.
Try to be humorous and entertaining.
Don't be berating and trolly against chat trolls.
Expect nasty chat messages as a female, ignore it.
Try to save $ to invest in better streaming equipment.
Have party chat with everyone's voice to be heard.
Create a schedule, shows commitment.
Try streaming when main popular streamers are not.
Do not rage over own stupidity and blame other players
Do not need camera, but if do make sure background appropriate and lighting is good.
Have a good microphone.
There are some more that are very specific but I promise that I have made note of them. If I seem to be missing more info please let me know so I can add them to this post and use this thread as my "cheat sheet".
Edit: Lots of sound advice from everyone. Thank you so much! I still welcome more! YwY
Edit 2: wow! So much to read! I may not Che able to comment them all but I am listening to all you have to offer! Thank you so much for trying to help a future streamer! :)
Edit 3: I've decided to do the whole cam thing. I will be getting one this weekend and trying it out for a stream. :)

Give it your own flair and make it reflect upon your personality. As well having someone admin or just make sure you keep yourself in check with the mute button as trolls are every where and don't let them bait you.

Personally wins most of the time. Don't pander to the ones hoping to see some skin. Talk to the stream and have a good time and you will do great.

Edited by FuzzyBeanbag: 8/26/2015 5:00:23 PMI dont condone the shooting of pandas, whether it's bullets or heroin
-
Don't listen to that cleavage bs just be your self

Edited by Noble Six: 8/26/2015 4:57:48 PMIf you see TV anchors/personalities they use absurd amounts of makeup and big hair. It looks garish in real life but does improve their image on the screen somehow. So go big or go home. Am I right?

Be yourself.

I completely miss read your title. Phew, that would have been awkward. Lol. Just be you. Don't play to any stereotypes and you are a winner in my book. (which is very important, of course). Good luck.

Just stream the type of stuff that you would like to watch
-
I advice u to watch other streamers that are girls.... check out the ones that fit what ur going for.

Edited by L4k04: 8/26/2015 4:45:44 PMYou do whatever makes you comfortable. If people don't want to watch based on the amount of cleavage showing, then they aren't really there for content anyways. All they want is noods. All I want in a streamer is someone that is able to act the same as if no one was around. Talk to yourself, laugh at yourself, and have a good time. Quick Edit: Make sure to check your own chat all the time and see what your viewers want. If its something cool, then go for it. Make sure not to go too far out of your own comfort zone, but venture a little to keep viewers engaged and feel more connected.

Be funny Cuss alot Talk about gaming, movies and other relative topics as you play...
-
Well just...oh, no cleavage. Idk then. But seriously, anyone that has a unique or funny personality and is good at the games they play with get a lot of views.

Edited by itz_Youngen: 8/26/2015 4:34:12 PMfellow streamer here keep in mind..patience is a virtue

If you are good at trials right now many want to get to the lighthouse. Stream your trials and take people watching you on your team.

Have we had a topless streamer yet?

Edited by E1007: 8/26/2015 4:34:31 PMMy friend streams every time he plays, usually getting a couple of viewers. He offers support to his followers, helping with raids and other things. He enjoys what he does. Don't expect tons of followers at first. Just enjoy what you are doing, stream while casually playing starting off and you'll eventually build up some followers. I will not lie about this, but when you get a facecam, you'll get followers easier because twitch is a realm currently in drought with a lot of thirsty people. If you find that these people are harrassing you, you can always ban them. TL;DR Enjoy yourself and you'll build up.
-
Check out some of the other streamers. Men and women and see what works for you. I care more about fun than what someone looks like. The female destiny streamers I watch aren't TnA streamers. Leahloveschief and MsTeamKK are a couple of good ones.

Show cleavage.

Edited by Goda: 8/26/2015 1:30:10 PMMy only advice is be funny and somewhat skilled at the games you play. In situations like destiny you can also try challenges if you have a good enough team etc. Now how to actually build up a rep for viewers I can't help you with, I'm assuming just word of mouth is probably how a lot of people get really big. Edit: I just read about make up and stuff, your viewers shouldn't completely rely on your looks(although I can't help but say it will probably help, because let's be honest here. Sex sells)

If you're not funny/comical/witty, I won't watch, no matter what sex you are.
http://www.twitch.tv/shootingpandas/profile/past_broadcasts So I'm a newb streamer. I plan on getting a playstation camera in the future to stream more, but I need pointers. I am a girl and everyone says that I need to show cleavage to get a lot of views. I really don't want that. Granted I will freshen up though and wear makeup and dress appropriately but Can you give me pointers and
No. No. No. Do not lower yourself to show off your body to get views. That'll turn your fanbase into nothing but 13-16 and your chat with comments like "$100 donation for a flash." Be you. Be classy. You get back what you put out. And don't use your gender when asking to watch your stream. It's a sign of desperation. Just leave it out. If anything it'll brighten people's days when they stop by and see a girl and not guy without warning.

Heya, When broadcasting initially, regardless if you have views, say hi to everyone. Make sure your have your mic sensitivity set to a decent level. If your laughing or making a noise that can be loud you don't want it to blast over the mic and be very very loud on thr playback. Practice speaking before your broadcasts. A lot of viewers want to listen to someone they can understand. If you have a thick accent from your area it can sometimes put people off. Be confident. Keep speaking, don't have Dead air time. If you are playing with someone and talking with them make sure your feed and recordings can hear them clearly otherwise people won't know what your talking about. Get yourself a logo for your twitch account. Yes, get a camera. Don't listen to idiots about showing cleavage. I would recommend however some light make up, which stops glare from your TV or lights in the room your playing in, and Wear something game related. Also have something game related in your backdrop of your own person. Hope that helps a little.
