Why is the Queen of the Reef such an unbelievable Mary Sue? Who is she?
She's ultra-powerful politically for no plausible reason, has control of superweapons that only she can control and nobody else, and appeared from absolutely nowhere as far as everyone's concerned.

The Queen and the rest of the Awoken are a special type of Alien, for instance being the queen, Mara Sov was born special. AS all awoken they are not bred but born form the cosmos. The Queen has grand psychic powers which is apparent in other Awoken. With her powers she can communicate across the galaxy to all other awoken telepathically, this is of course done with assistance from her witch like assistants the Techuens
