Actually from the new game informer article it says that the nine have a close connection to the ahamkara and what I believe is that the nine are the last ahamkara being that there is only nine of them left and Xur was created by them to send messages and findings to the reef and tower in exchange for strange coins which the nine need I would think we will learn of whom the nine are and what the ahamkara actually look like in destiny 2

They aren't the last amakara even if they are amakara. You can some flying around the sky on Venus sometimes
-
They were confirmed by bungie that the things on Venus are not the ahamkara but are called something else this is sort of true as the ahamkara are living in the void or were when the hunt of there race began
-
Link to that article?

Edited by RennWorks: 8/25/2015 6:40:53 AMno one knows about the nine "The Ahamkara are a species that appeared on Earth when the Traveler arrived. The Ahamkara was said to be a wish-fulfilling dragon, sought out by many Guardians in search of power. However, it was decided that the bargains made with these creatures came at too high a price, so they were hunted to extinction during the Great Ahamkara Hunt. Based on their remains, the Ahamkara were Avian in appearance, possessing both feathers and sharp beaks" "The fossilized remains of the Ahamkara are of continued interest to Warlocks, who adorn their armor with them and thereby acquire unique powers. Some Hunters also wear armor with Ahamkara bones, but have less of an understanding of the risks involved. The bones seem to retain a will of their own, flattering and urging their owners to recklessness" "Some players believed that the winged, flying creatures seen in the skies above Venus may have been living Ahamkara. According to Bungie, these creatures are "batadactyls". They got their informal name during an argument between members of Bungie's environment team over what animal the creatures most resembled" Very likely the creatures are ahamkara though, as there is some loot pointing to them possibly still being alive and because there is no lore on "batadactyls" all of this off of destinypedia
