Variks ruminates on the escalating situations going on around the solar system. He refers, indirectly, to a few different groups. Which of these groups have we [i]not[/i] engaged in combat thus far?

I think it's been long enough, the answer is the Ahamkara. If you look in the Skolas: Defeated grimoire card, the paragraph that starts with "The alternative is Skolas' strength..."

That may seem a little vague until you read the Ghost Fragment: Legends 3 grimoire card (Under Legends and Mysteries in the Allies section)

I doubt they would use the exact same word by coincidence. Not to mention any exotic armor that involves Ahamkara, just read their descriptions.

Well I know what he's talking about. That's clearly Oryx. No idea what the Shape Stealers are, though. Something from the Whirlwind, I think.

I feel like the Shape Stealers may be a reference to the Taken. From what we've seen so far they don't have their own bodies, instead taking those of other creatures to exert their force.

It might, but that would suggest that Oryx was involved in the Fall of the Eliksni, and the reaction of the alien races to Oryx's arrival suggests that the Cabal are much more involved with him than the Fallen. I think the Taken are really those that Oryx has stolen (or "blessed" when they are his own blood) and corrupted them utterly with raw Darkness.

The Taken aren't separate beings. They're empty shells controlled by Oryx and given strange powers

I'm pretty sure I've listed two factions that Variks talks about that we have yet to face. He also talks about the Nine, the Reef, the Traveller, the Guardians, House Scar, none of whom we fight, all of whom are valid targets in the future.
