This was originally a comment I made on another post. Figured I make my own post
There are many unspoken rules about a persons GT/PSN
These rules don't necessarily equal a bad player, but it looks amateur and is just bad. Original names earn respect in the online gaming world, while names that break these rules (to a large degree) are seen as noobish.
Rules
- no variations of 'x' / 'X' in a persons name outside of the actual name, including space filler of any kind
*also applies to 'V'/'v', 'Z'/'z', and 'O'/'o'
- no numbers (more numbers = more scrub)
*there are few cases where a number is acceptable, but only in rare cases, usually when it coincides with the name in a recognizable way
- no random capitalization. It is ok to capitalize words, but no random capital letters within a word, as this is a major sign of a noob
- no numbers used as replacements to letters ( ex. 3=E, 4=A, 5=S, 12=R, etc.)
- name doesn't attempt to impersonate someone else, like a Youtuber or streamer for example
- no clan tags attached to name. Especially tags from professional gaming teams. (We know you're not on that team, you just look like an ass)
- name doesn't refer to drugs in any way
(Weed, Kush, 420blazeit, etc.)
If your name doesn't break any of these rules, then it is safe to say it is OG. Your name is who you are in the online world, try to keep it legit and not look like a noob.
Bonus Points
- name is unique
- name is funny and/or clever
- name doesn't use too many syllables or rolls of the tongue
(makes it easy for others to say and remember your name. Try to stray from having people give you a nickname.)

I'll admit, I've broken a few of these rules in the past. Here are some examples of noobish names (a la my old GTs / PSN from middle school)
socialfreak1234 (1st name), TGUxLimiTZz, FaTaL_Limitz, liberty5337 (numbers are relevant, but arent recognizable to others), HacKeD ScOpEz (*shudders*)
Don't make the same mistakes I did. I may not have been bad at games back then, but those names definitely made me a noob in the eyes of the online world

I think mine is pretty OG
