Anime can be a wonderful thing, or a strange thing, or a bad thing, depending on who you are communicating with. However, due to the recent ignorance I keep seeing on both Deviantart and here, I now present this thread. What makes a weeb? What are they like? A weeaboo is simply a plague that is just as bad as BvB and BOTDF fantards. I have a check list of what makes one. One of the more ignorant statements is that because someone has an anime avatar, which I do on most sites, loves and watches anime or reads manga, etc etc is an octopus f***ing weeaboo. However, how do you really know if they are what you claim? Here is your check list. -Are they obsessed with anime and manga? -Do they insult you if you even don't like their favorite anime? -Do they use Japanese in an English conversation (Baka, Kawaii, Desu, etc) -Do they even bathe? -Do they constantly ship characters (Like for example, Lunamaria x Kallen, "Yuri" or Lelouch x Athrun "Yaoi") -Do they reject American culture? Better yet, their own culture? -Do they believe they are Japanese? -Do they only listen to Japanese music like vocaloid and J-pop? -Do they have an addiction to Japanese pocky? -Do they own a fake sword collection? -Is anime/manga the only thing they talk about? -Do they have some made up BS story about how mommy and daddy left them, and this Samurai took them in and trained them to defeat the Nine Tailed Fox while having Gundams back them up? This is an example. -Do they try to shove anime down your throat. -How do they look at an anime? Lets go with an example. -Non weeaboo (Using Heaven's Lost Property anime adaption as an example. Mind you, I love SnO and it's one of my favorites) "I love Sora No Otoshimono, however I have to criticize the fact that they should have exploited more things like Sugata's family. I also didn't like how the Harpies didn't get their own arc like in the manga and I wish it had more serious moments as well. Sometimes the humor is forced but overall I found it to be a highly enjoyable anime and I loved it, despite it's flaws. I liked how the Angeloid Ikaros......" -Weeaboo "I love everything about Sora No Otoshimono and it's the best anime ever Baka and Ikaros is so Kawaii Desu and (Insert random fanboy/fangirl BS and gibberish). If you don't agree with me you need to go kill yourself you Baka! Baka Baka Baka! Your stupid opinions are untrue and (More gibberish Japanglish). If they have fulfilled all of the checks, or almost all, then you are most certainly dealing with a weeaboo. However, it's perfectly okay to have a Miku wallscroll, and 50 damn figurines and Gunpla models and this and that and having like over a hundred animes under your belt. That doesn't make you a weeaboo. BUT if you display all of the markings, then you most certainly are and you are giving anime fans like myself a bad name. It's also okay if you were one when you were ten, since you likely snapped out of it by now. However, if you're 18 and weeaboo, then well... Go figure.
