This has annoyed me for quite some time and I just don't understand it. Why can't someone actually like a change? We don't think the sun shines out Bungie's ass for it we just like the changes.
But, no faster than you get the opinion out of your mouth you suddenly have 20 people calling you a fanboy and a Desticle, stating how you are stupid for liking the change and how the change itself is over all stupid.
Recently, I tried to say how I didn't think that fact that old weapons wasn't a bad thing and wasn't anything new, and how it shouldn't be seen as a personal attack on those that played in the first year. I even tried to be reasonable about it, stating how most people that have played this are probably use to plain FPS's or Borderlands where the gear just gets a higher level and you can hold onto your favorite loadouts through the whole game. Almost every time I was either called a Desticle or a Fanboy.
Tried reasoning with the people who are saying that The Taken King is waste simply because they can't use their new weapons. I tried pointing out there are many other new things to try and that focusing on one thing they find wrong shouldn't be a reason to disregard the entire expansion. Again, was just met with insults and told how I should stop kissing Bungie's ass.
I openly acknowledge that there are things that are wrong with Destiny and, more than likely, there will be issues with The Taken King as well. I also believe there are bigger things to be worried about and things that I think deserve more attention than old weapons.
For example:
How will swords be balanced as the new heavy weapon?
how will they compete with weapons like HMG's and RL'S, not to mention the new heavy fusions, Sleeper Simulant?
How will everything work after the next weapon update?
Are they going to give gunslingers armor when in super mode like the rest of the classes?
Are they going to reduce the Armor Blade Dancer's gain when using their super?
What are they doing about all the other abilities?
How will the new sub classes being balanced against current ones?
What are the new crucible maps like (we've only really seen two so far)?
What are the new strikes like (we've seen parts of one and what seems to be the boss of another)?
I'm worried so much more about a million other things that old weapons are driven to the back of my mind by the current issues we are having and the new issues that could possibly arise.
I don't think Bungie is perfect, nor do I think Destiny is perfect. If I happen to think that something is a non-issue it isn't because I am an asshole that thinks that the game should be my way, it's just because it's not really a problem to me or I genuinely think that it could be better for the game and community because I like Destiny and I want it to be great.
Defending something about the game shouldn't automatically make you a fanboy or Desticle. Just as having a legitimate complaint shouldn't make you a crybaby.

Defending destiny in almost anyway earns you the title of desticle. End of.
