Many groups of people claim absolute knowledge about the origin of the universe and the nature of reality even though they can't back it up with proper evidence.
One group of people has recently started to call them out on these claims, basically saying "you don't actually know that for sure so stop claiming it as fact and telling people what to do".
I don't know how anyone can think it is the second group that are being arrogant.

Irony. Both groups aren't exactly correct, but they aren't wrong either. The extreme on both sides of the spectrum have issues.

You think there's something wrong with pointing out the burden of proof hasn't been met?

No I think insulting and ridiculing people because their beliefs are different from your own is unreasonable and childish. If you don't believe then that's fine, learn to accept that they do, and they should accept that others don't.

Ah that's just the way a lot of people behave in the Internet. It's certainly not exclusive to this subject matter, so I don't see the point in acting like it is.
