The Bible says many contradictory things that any Christian at any time can suddenly believe or disbelieve based on what they want to argue, hence why there are so many different denominations in the first place. No wonder atheists can't get it right, you Christians can't even agree on what it says yourselves.
Truth is more often than not religion gives someone an excuse to believe what they want, rather than a specific direction to take their beliefs. You don't get very many people saying "Oh I want to be in favour of gay marriage but The Bible says I can't; that's why I'm picketing this gay wedding" or vice versa. People who agree with gay marriage quote one part of the bible and people who are against it quote another bit. Any contextual misinterpretation is based on your opinion on what the true interpretation is. The 'true' interpretation is - whether you like it or not - completely dependant upon what you believe, not what The Bible actually says.
