Atheists like to claim intellectual superiority, yet when attempting to make an argument against Christianity, they always fall short. While claiming to be the pinnacle of learned men, they lose all sense of logic, context, reading comprehension, and deductive reasoning when they erroneously create arguments in opposition to Christianity. If you want to reject God, so be it, but at least do it on the basis of what the bible actually teaches and not what you read on the internet.
Read, study, understand. Leave your pride and arrogance at the door. Context is a thing and its wonderful.
Edit: Let's keep this going, guys! And thank you to all the wonderful people who stopped by and proved my point.

Agreed; Christianity is incredibly logical as you so rightly know OP. Everything is too perfect to have just happened, so God created it. Logical. But God wasn't created himself because... he's too perfect to be created... or something. Even more Logical. Oh wait everything isn't perfect because of -blam!- and murder and stuff, so instead of doing the crazy thing and concluding that an all-powerful all-loving being didn't create everything, we're going to make up a reason why he made the world specifically with all the bad things, which means we can continue to say the he is wonderful, despite all the apparent evidence to the contrary. Wow look at all this logic about. Oh crap, what's this? Someone's discovered something about the universe that tells an alternative story to the one we tell about God's involvement? I know, let's say that God had a hand in this new story so that we can reconcile our comfy beliefs and the new discoveries of the universe. YAY I LOVE USING LOGIC!!

I don't think all atheist are that way, there are different kind of atheist after all. But you know an atheist does not know what he is talking about when he says: "I believe in science" :P

1. Most of us do not claim that we are superior in any way. 2. Never use absolutes. 3. The only thing I say is do not be a blind sheep. Question your faith. Ask yourself if there really is a God. If you still believe then good, your faith is now stronger. If not then before you were probably following blindly.

I like Ham sandwiches.
just said the most productive thing in this thread.
The only time I have a problem with any religious person is when they try to shove their beliefs down my throat. Although I'll grab my popcorn and sit here and watch, this could get interesting

Atheism is quite western. People who don't believe Hinduism or whatever in countries like India for eg don't seem to have a complex with thinking they know anything more than someone who believes different. Atheism in its general media and public depiction is just the opposite of Christianity. They have their beliefs etc (or lack there of) and like ye old Christians try to shove it down others throats. Equally arrogant, equally lacking in intellect and most importantly completely disconnected from a self spiritual realization thus making it all completely disjointed and meaningless much like trying to argue a theory about a black hole. Yeah you might be passionate about whatever but it doesn't mean much at the end of the day. That my friends is called the ego's defense. And if u need to defend what you believe it might prompt people to wonder whether you really believe it... Hello infinite arguments about religion etc

It's not anti-Christian it's anti-deity.

Who wrote the Bible? Men. Who wrote every other religious text? Men. What evidence do you have that your religion is true and every single other religion is false? None. I think that an intelligent person can base opinions off of hard, factual evidence. If you can't, you are wasting my time because I don't have time for your "faith" bullshit. Along with that, the Bible makes SOOO many contradictory statements, and statements that people choose to ignore. Do you eat shrimp? Do you eat bacon/ham/pork? If you do, you're sinning. If God is so "forgiving" why do natural disasters occur? Why would he kill off an entire church of priests off the coast of Ireland with an earthquake, and not do shit to terrorist groups such as ISIS? Maybe us atheists don't NEED scientific evidence to make a valid argument, we can just use your Bible. If we do make a scientific argument that has been proven (cough cough evolution cough cough) you claim it to be false, and when we tell you that the Bible is an unoriginal book of fairy tales stolen from other religions and cultures (Ex: Noah's Ark and the story of Gilgamesh. A wise old man had a giant boat that fit 2 of every animal somewhere within the story, before a massive flood occurred.) you claim our statements to be false with no evidence to back you up. Here is another hassle to explain to you: The Big Bang. You say that God created The Big Bang, but do you have any evidence to support that? No, you just jump to conclusions. We do have enough evidence to validate the possibility of The Big Bang, just not enough to prove it, yet. Talk to me when you have a valid argument supported by truthful evidence.

Cant prove that god exists eh? Were still waiting.
-
Prove to me that there is a god

Hmm, first paragraph was quite a bit of generalization. I've encountered you before, man. You claim to have all the answers as to why I should switch from skepticism to faith, yet I had to berate you to even get a LINK to a christian website for arguments to support it. You come on here preaching yet you clearly have no substantial precedent to "save" anyone. So don't try to lecture people who don't believe in a book with seven headed dragons and daughters r@p!ng their father.

I think you'll find an even spread of -blam!-ing moron across both sides of the religious debate
-
Why do you think Atheism is mainly opposed to Christianity? For all you know, the people you are refuting rejected Shintoism, Islam or Hinduism. Atheists reject ALL religions equally, not just Christianity.
-
The burden of proof is on the claimant. Not upon the person who is agnostic on the claim. It is up to you to prove that God exists, not us to prove he doesn't.
-
Edited by SoulEatinFool: 8/26/2015 9:03:56 PMConsidering religion is based on faith, there's not really a way to prove anything. Trying to disprove religion is a fruitless effort, logic or not.
-
Edited by JaxAndJakeTTV: 8/26/2015 9:31:55 PMI don't argue against religions. I argue against those who think they're right and everyone else is wrong based on their beliefs. Leave me to my beliefs (or lack thereof as the case may be), and I'll leave you to yours. Easy enough.
-
Everything said here could also be said of religious people
-
Have any atheists ever looked at a video of a caterpillar turning into a butterfly? Could that happen without intelligent design? How about a mountain?
-
I'm an atheist, I don't claim intelligectual superiority, I just think you're wrong and that you have no proof for your claim.
