As a player of Destiny since it's first month, there has been nothing more enjoyable in the game than seeing all of the fancy armor as I progress. Many beautiful pieces of armor I couldn't even imagine dismantling! But, I had to. With each level came new and better armor than the last. Some even more beautiful and others even more ugly... And it broke my heart, but i had to get rid of them to make way for better gear. But, what if there was a reason not to dismantle old gear? A reason to save your beautiful gear for your Level 34 Guardian? That is why I suggest to you, the Costume System.
The costume system has been introduced in many games. It is a way to make your character look snazzy with the bonus of being the strongest you can. All you have to do is equip your best gear, then equip a second piece of the respected armor (i.e. A legendary helmet and a fancy rare helmet you picked up from a strike). The second piece of gear you equipped would override the texture of the original armor, and give you the look you want with the perks you need! So not only can you brag to your friends about completing a vault in under half an hour, but now you can brag that you did it in style!
I've already come up with a suggestion on how this can be accomplished. Let's use two helmets for example. Say you have a legendary helmet and a rare helmet. While the legendary helmet may have good stats and all, it looks like a hunk of garbage. The rare helmet on the other hand, looks like it was meant to be worn into battle, but can't exactly take a bullet. When both pieces of gear are in your inventory, press X (for PS) or A (for XBox) to equip the legendary helmet. Hold down the respected button to equip the rare helmet as a cosmetic item. Of course what happens if you like the legendary helmet because it has good stats and has a good look? Well simply hold the respected button down over the cosmetic item to take it off. Of course this is just a suggestion am the developers may set it up however they like.
As a dedicated fan to Destiny, this would be a dream come true for my idea to be implemented into the game.
