So here is where we will list strategies for getting ready for TTK.
If you have any suggestions I will add it.
DO Not cash in your factions rewards or public event awards from the post master.
-They might drop engrams for rewards plus its easy rep points and experience points when you do.
-Cash in after you have acquired the new subclass so experience goes to leveling that up as well.
Level all factions, crucible, vanguard and eris ranks to almost completed so they are easily ranked once TTK drops.
Decrypt and save all legendary gear for upgrading future gear.
-If running out of room run a full inventory on character while running missions, strikes and crucible so items go to the post master for extra vault space. Keep them their till after TTK and hen cash them in.
-Engrams received before TTK will not turn into new gear.
-Per Bungie.
HoW will you calculate the new numbers you’ll assign to my Guardians in Year Two?
We’ll determine your level based on the gear in your inventory and your Vault
Don’t dismantle your best stuff before you begin your Year Two adventure
Level all weapons and armor as much as possible for use when upgrading the new gear.
Save your Exotic coins for new gear.
-I do not know what will happen to your crucible and vanguard marks once TTK drop since those are going away and combining into 1 type of currency. Do now, blocks of 50 of them will turn into a reputation consumable.
Second and Third alternate characters, make them.
-Can be used for additional storage of gear.
-TTK will give you one instant leveler to level 25(I believe is the new minimum lvl for the new legendary and exotic gear) per account.
Save your consumables i.e. silken codex, axiomatic beads, house banners and whatever the hell the cabals are.
Have a full inventory of completed bounties ready to turn in when TTK drops.
-Rank your factions so it only takes 1 or 2 bounties to level the up then switch factions and cash in bounties and then rinse and repeat.

Bump for some new stuff.

Max Eris Morne (sp?) Rank. She is a quest giver in TTK, and it looks like all ranks will carry over. She may have great new still beyond rank 4

Looks like the first Strike boss is a big Shank. Keep a few shank burn POE weapons. Probably overkill, but what the hell.
-
If you don't have 3 characters, create a lv 2 alt and get them to the tower. They can then use all their slots to store items when the vault gets low.
-
Don't cash your 200 glimmer drops, Example House Banners. Bank them, they stack, and then glimmer cap to 25k right before TTK. Holding these is like increasing your glimmer cap in the vault.

save your coins for the new exotics!
