One word comes to mind: Progression. Going through 10 years worth of content with the same old gear/weapons?! How can you not see why they're moving past year one weapons... Edit 1: World of warcrafts loot system has worked like this for over a decade and no ones cried when their legendaries (in this case the top tier orange gear as opposed to top tier exotic gear we are familiar with in destiny) have become obsolete with new expansions. And yes you CAN compare the two games before anyone else starts crying about how they are two fundamentally different games. The loot/progression mechanics are similar enough.
