Did you people even think about it ramifications of this? You guys are aware that the gally and other year one exotics are going to be "frozen in time", never to be upgraded ever again. Now, I could be a bitch on the forums, calling people idiots, or claim that they are bungie's sheep.... But I'm not going to be a bitch.
My question is, WHY you are okay with the gally ( and for the sake of having a good discussion: other one year exotics ) being left behind? For most of us, these exotics (like gally) were not easy to get. I just wonder why you guys are fine leaving them behind after countless months are grinding.
UPDATE: What I mean by calling people names, is that I could be toxic like some people are. I don't want to be that toxic person. All I wanted to have a good discussion about this.
-
Well its time to let go. They were useful in year one, but we all know gally was a way to evade boss mechanics. Eliminating this forces us to actually play the game.
-
Obsessed over history means you will never move forward. - So stay stuck in the past - You seem to be best suited there.

Edited by Kio: 8/22/2015 12:34:11 AMI'm looking forward to something new and exciting!!
-
I'm fine because I'm looking forward to getting new stuff I'm not new to Detiny and have had all exotics for a long time, long enough I'm ready to place them in the vault I also understood from the beginning this wasn't a normal fps game and that this would happen at points along the way
-
Did you like POE? Maybe the first week or two because you wanted that etheric light... Then you got your old stuff upgraded and POE was a waste of time because the guns where not as good as the ones you have. Now there was no reason to play it because there was no reward worth getting.. even the Exotic guns where not worth much because you would rather use a exotic you have over any of those. It must be this way in order to keep us interested in the reward system and playing the new content.
-
I'll be honest. I'm a little sad that they would balance year one items at all when they will become inferior going forward. That said, I'm more interested in having a flaming hammer and void bow with a dodge roll. With swords confirmed, Devils may cry.
-
We want something different from, Fatebringer Black hammer Gjallarhorn Loadouts It gets boring using the same weapons, but they're the best weapons, and that's why we use them, but it's still boring
-
The pre-HOW exotics are a different archetype than what is going forward. They need to be left behind.
-
Because there will be a new theoretical ghorn. Something from year one will float up to the top and become the new destiny nuke. I don't know want to use the same Ghorn for 10 years...
-
Yeah, I'm not buying this bullshit.
-
Well... Based on how they're doing level and light levels differently... I get the feeling that old exotics will only be slightly less effective. Using all new gear except for Gjallarhorn, for example, would only bring your light level down slightly. So Year 1 exotics will still be viable in most activities, but maybe just not quite as much as the new exotics or legendary gear
-
I didn't grind to get anything so I'm perfectly fine with their approach. I just played the game for fun and getting decent drops was a bonus. I also like using different weapons and armour. I'll keep my favourite year one weapons and dust them off for patrols and year one content
-
Frozen? Just dismantle them and you won't see them anymore. I'm ready to leave year 1 behind me. Lets get the new stuff!!
-
Edited by 漢字: 8/21/2015 7:11:38 PMI thought us destiny players who enjoy the game are sheeps, now people who dont care about weapons being left behind are sheep?.... which one is it now.
-
i haven't used the TTK weapons yet. I have no opinion.
-
Because the game needs to move forward. People complain about it being repetitive, well of course it's going to be repetitive if you keep using the same weapons over and over.
-
Edited by atpbx1: 8/21/2015 2:37:10 PMI dont know about you, but when BMW released their new BMW M5, my 2008 M5 stopped making 500bhp, stopped being able to do 205mph because it was "frozen in time". Instead it turned into a 114i .
-
Because I played Runescape for years and didnt go into god wars with a rune scimmy
-
It's old stuff. Time to move on and play with new stuff. I wish everybody would have their entire inventory automatically dismantled. That would be a good day..
-
You know to change from the G-horn to something else . You equip a different weapon. This is the problem that everyone always overlooks . It's a matter of being able to choose what you want not be forced to.
-
Since you've asked in a civilised manner ill try to respond in kind. Not everyone likes change. It's scary. It's unknown. It's scarier because it's unknown. But, it's the future. Because year 1 exotics and legendaries are being left behind, everyone seems to be on the assumption that year 2 will be pure fisticuffs with no new weapons to use. Before Ghorn became the default heavy, was the game played? After ghorn was sold by xur, did the game break? I don't think the issue is which weap is upgradable vs not. I personally think the issue is people don't like accepting change straight off the bat. This isn't new to either Destiny or gaming or even the human race.
-
From my point of view, gear and weapons are an MMO element of this game. Now I know destiny is not an Mmo, BUT there are elements of it. Especially because the gear is tiered from common to exotic (normal in mmos) in most games that follow this system, some weapons are left behind to be relevant in the content they were made for I.e: expansions before TTK. I know this won't be the case for all weapons as some are being carried forward but I for one think it would be boring to have the same stuff forever but I can see the other side where it would be cool to have an old weapon in a later version of the game and people ask you, wow where can I get that?! Just my humble opinion and I know it won't be everyone's but just sharing :)
-
I like the idea of freezing them in time, because then it promotes using new weapons for the future
-
I'm ok with it because I only used a handful of the weapons on a regular basis, the rest just sat in the vault for my collection.
-
Talking abour "Freezing in Time" it would be pretty boring to run around with Gjallarhorn, Astralhorizon and VoC for 10 years.
-
I had a moment of silence yesterday for my Ghally, but I think until people actually use the new weapons, no one should bitch about it. That's like having an old girlfriend who was great in the sack, and prejudging the new girlfriend before you've ever done the deed. Obviously if the new one is lame, you'll want the old one back, but until it happens, save your judgement.
