Did you people even think about it ramifications of this? You guys are aware that the gally and other year one exotics are going to be "frozen in time", never to be upgraded ever again. Now, I could be a bitch on the forums, calling people idiots, or claim that they are bungie's sheep.... But I'm not going to be a bitch.
My question is, WHY you are okay with the gally ( and for the sake of having a good discussion: other one year exotics ) being left behind? For most of us, these exotics (like gally) were not easy to get. I just wonder why you guys are fine leaving them behind after countless months are grinding.
UPDATE: What I mean by calling people names, is that I could be toxic like some people are. I don't want to be that toxic person. All I wanted to have a good discussion about this.

We'll find a new gally , a new exotic to cheerish and covet. We will never forget the Gally and what it's done for us. Let us never forget the grind, the agony and the journey we took to get it. It's time to turn the page and find a new unicorn.
Gally , Gone but not forgotten
Hmm, the question I have is will the old yr1 exotics still be kick ass for the yr1 raids/strikes etc? If they will be then I'm a bit perturbed about it but also looking forward to yr2 exotics and what they'll do. That Tex Mechana Shotgun from the trailer looks awesome......
-
I'm ok with it cause i enjoy the game and love the fact that we are no longer being forced to use a set of guns in crucible or raids people have been telling me that they are getting kicked for not having a gjallahorn in Crota and if people are gonna bitch about it hand me a bag of pop corn and a nice chair so i can watch the forums burn and flood with salt XD

I'm cool with them being left behind because I like the grind of finding and upgrading new weapons and armor. Would I like to have all year one exotics? Of course, but not having some of those weapons are not going to ruin the fun I'll have playing the new content. Plus we have no idea how good or bad the new exotics will be. There might be a gun or two that makes all the old exotics feel like pillows, we have no idea yet. I'm just happy with new content and the different way the game will be (new rng, level system, weapon balancing, new reputation, new bounties, and the ghosts being helpful and different looking).
-
Out with the old in with the new
-
Because I got gally first week destiny dropped, nearly a year with the same thing is boring as -blam!-
-
I'm okay with it because I don't find many exotics to be fantastic right now. Yes there are exceptions but I'm ready to move on and find better or maybe worse stuff, I don't know. I just want some change.
-
I definitely don't agree with the decision to either arbitrarily or systematically leave certain exotics behind. With the introduction of blueprints to serve as a long term solution for clearing up space in vaults overcrowded by exotics it seems really counterintuitive. I can only guess that their logic here is similar to why previous endgame content isn't getting updated difficulties. They're thinking long term. If they keep their momentum and continue to build upon the preexisting Destiny world, in five years time there will be ten or more raids. That's an absurd amount of endgame content to grind across three characters. So certain weapons will be relevant for the content of their era, so to speak. And in the larger scheme of things, that totally makes sense, and I'm fine with that.
-
Moreover, with the knowledge that even exotics can and will be left behind on a yearly basis, who is going to want to come back to the game to grind out those exotics? I dont think I have ever been a doomsman but I can see at least a fraction of the playerbase walking away because they have nothing to grind for
-
Jelly horn is just a rocket launcher and is no issue with that being left behind. What annoys me is why they are ditching the primary weapons and secondary ones. Variation is key in this game so why the -blam!- have they done that?! I love my mida so much.
-
I went almost a year without it, I can go 9 more years without it too. The whole point of a game like this is for it to evolve and progress and change. I never expected to be using year one weapons all ten years, and I never wanted to either. Does that mean I won't miss some old weapons? No, I'll always love my VoC. However, I'm ready and willing to leave the old weapons behind and find out what new and better weapons might be waiting for me in future expansions. Also, it's not as if these older weapons won't still be relevant. I'm sure most of us will still be making trips into the Vault or taking on Crota in year two and maybe beyond. When we do, I will be taking along my old raid weapons to face our old foes.
-
I am ok with it because things change and it will freshen game up a bit.
-
He did hint at others being upgradable later. Even if they aren't, so what? There are other guns.
-
Not my favorite weapon to use. I passed up on it the first time Xur sold it. Because I knew that it would be overused. Ended up getting it as a drop first week into HoW. Kept it only so I could find groups on LFG. Feel really lazy using it and have more fun rolling with a solar lmg. The grind is also not an issue for me. When playing CoD, I could be max prestige, but I like to stay a little bit to grind some of those challenges. Gives me a reason to keep playing.
-
I'm ok with it
-
Because it's a videogame. Gear will come and gear will go and I have absolutely no problem evolving with the game. That being said I'm willing to bet that eventually Bungie will make all year 1 exotics upgradeable to new damage cap with future DLCs. Even if they don't, whatever. I'll track down the new exotics and use those instead. I pay for entertainment. And I've gotten way more entertainment out of Destiny for the money I've spent than any other form of entertainment I've ever experienced. Side note: If the changing features of a videogame get you as worked up as some of the people who make whiney bitchposts about it then you need to take a step back and seriously reevaluate your priorities in life.
-
The one i feels like "grinding" is hawkmoon, because of console exclusive, the chance rather small, other than that, it just kinda drop it eventually without feeling any grinding So im fine, maybe the new grinding will be sleeper stimulant because of 50 pieces part to find
-
Just think, a whole host of new players will be bewildered as we raid the dreadnaught and get misty eyed over our old VoG weapons. Any solar scout rifle will be instantly compared to VoC. For players to not sit there thinking about how we've had our favourites taken away, the new VoC will need to be better than the old one. But is that even possible? 27 rounds, auto fire, fantastic stability and good impact. Increase magazine size? Increase impact? Increase rate of fire and make it full auto? Not sure how it'll work. (Only using VoC as the example because fatebringer eludes me...)

Edited by japioK: 8/21/2015 7:49:23 AMSome things need to be history guys.. In RL you are not goeing to drive the F1 race with an old car! Just as simple as that. New challenges included for woapons means more playtime!
-
The games a complete mess anyways so I'm not to bothered if they want to change everything, it's not like it was perfect how it was.
-
It sucks, it really does. I got my Gally from an NF early on so I've had my fun with it already but I feel bad for those who've been grinding nonstop only to have Xurned it last week. As for myself, I'm excited to see what the next gamebreaker is, I'm rooting for that heavy fusion rifle right now but who knows. It'll be fun to figure it out and try all the new studf
-
Because I'm looking forward to using new weapons in year two, rather than using the same year one weapons all the time.
-
I don't like how only some are going. It's should be all or none in my opinion and that's what I was expecting.
-
It'll be fun to find the next gally. I don't wanna run through the whole series using the same guns. Plus lfg will chill out for a while with a level playing field.
-
I'm o with it cause its old and I'm tired of looking at it. I want a heavy sword or something more badass than some rocket launcher
-
I'm fine with the weapons being left behind, but only if we get an equal or better weapon. It's like the government saying hey this warthog is the best plane we have , let's give you this other plane because it's newer yet we know the other one is still the shit.
