Did you people even think about it ramifications of this? You guys are aware that the gally and other year one exotics are going to be "frozen in time", never to be upgraded ever again. Now, I could be a bitch on the forums, calling people idiots, or claim that they are bungie's sheep.... But I'm not going to be a bitch.
My question is, WHY you are okay with the gally ( and for the sake of having a good discussion: other one year exotics ) being left behind? For most of us, these exotics (like gally) were not easy to get. I just wonder why you guys are fine leaving them behind after countless months are grinding.
UPDATE: What I mean by calling people names, is that I could be toxic like some people are. I don't want to be that toxic person. All I wanted to have a good discussion about this.
-
I'm glad it's happening
-
I remember bungie saying "the vex is frozen in time" It wasn't! So, let us just raise our voice and hope they listen again
-
I'm okay with it, because I saw it coming. Coomon sense :)
-
Just like how the vex was "frozen in time"? & what happened there, huh?
365'd
-
I'm fine with no gally,I love truth, it does suck that everyone who just got it won't be able to bask in its greatness for to long. What I'm not fine with is deej lack of everything. Seeing it yesterday really annoyed me for some reason.

Edited by HiiiTekk: 8/21/2015 8:38:55 AMBecause they will have a better launcher or laser beam or something. I really don't care. A game is supposed to be fun. You only make not fun because you don't like certain things. If you didn't give a crap about them then you will have a lot more fun. My point is, don't worry about it too much because there is going to be a year 2 launcher better than the gally.

But... SUROS

I've had the Gally since Xûr first sold it. For me it's never been a trophy to chase. In fact, I'm pretty sure it was buried deep inside my vault until TDB came out. I was happy using my vanilla weapons and for a long time I didn't even use exotics. After TDB I threw away the weapons and armor I knew I'd never use. I kept a few just because they had "sentimental value" or whatever. This happened again when HoW was released. And will happen again when TTK comes out. I've gotten really set in my ways. Always the same primary/secondary/heavy weapons. I can't wait to see and try out new things, new setups. I had fun acquiring the things I have now and I know I'll have fun chasing all this new stuff (and there's so much new stuff!). I will always keep my Zombie Apocalypse, Fatebringer and the Queen's Guard armor pieces. And no one is forcing me to do otherwise. Besides, wouldn't it be boring to use the same weapons and armor year after year? TL;DR: Exited about new stuff, won't abandon old stuff that I like.
-
Got them, used them, had a good old time. Now it's time to get new stuff, use new stuff, and have a good new time.
-
You guys don't get it. Exotics have a one of a kind perk. That perk makes them special. Leaving them behind doesn't make any sense. That's like having an exotic perk on a rare or uncommon weapon. 8t just makes no sense.
-
Dude, people who have the Gally have used it in its full exotic glory for however long you've had it. Its time to move on...
-
Icebreaker and my ruin wings better be coming with or I'm done playing. Icebreaker is my favorite weapon. There are other games coming out soon and I'll gladly switch over to them if they leave behind icebreaker.
-
This type of games are a grind fest like it or not, people need new thing things to works toward too, is about time they dump most of the old stuff and give players something to look toward to. Maybe in a couple of years for those who still playing destiny can talk about how good the gjallarhorn was.
-
Out with old.....
-
It's not just g horn and thorn. Icebreaker is also not coming with us
-
I'm ok with it, because it opens up the avenue for a replacement. A new gjallahorn to be born. We could use the same guns for 10 years, but that would be boring. Instead lets let them be creative and try and top it. It should be interesting. My idea, Upgraded Dragons Breath and the solar flare follows enemies. Or a rocket that blinds enemies even past the damage radius. A thorn like rocket that poisons. A guided rocket that you control from the rocket's point of view and you can guide it around corners and everything ( but it travels slowly ). Rejoice in the uncertainty and excitement that is happening. Change is almost always a good thing imo.

Dumb -blam!-ers like you just assume shit thats why. You all talk out of your ass based on minor statements and it flood the forum. You have no damn idea how many weapons are getting carried over, you have no idea that they are going to be 'frozen in time' Please stop making these idotic rant statements because clearly your overlooking alot of things.

Edited by GANTZ: 8/21/2015 7:56:18 AMsuch irony , the game which barely had any content and made people grind the same shit 1000's of hours just to get a Gally , now takes everything people strive for away , and you even pay for this privilege price of 40+$ bungie seriously needs to learn how to not piss of players and devaluing their efforts , the track record for every dlc so far , you get tiny amount of new content but tons of grind because everything you earned is being made useless, thats a lazy way of adding content here , not even speaking about that content is so overpriced compared to other games dlc's why has it always be a mixed feeling when a new destiny dlc hits ? one one side im excited to play some new stuff, then again im worried how bungie will punish me this time for trying to diligently collect and upgrade stuff

Year one didn't exist. Here's a shader and emblem to help you forget it.
-
Out with the old in with the new. Gally was good and whatnot. But i have no issue leaving it behind. Better things will come and go.
-
Edited by MTheoryFreak: 8/21/2015 8:17:51 AMPerfectly fine with it. I don't want gally to be the go to crutch 5 years from now. I want to evolve with the game and have new treasures to work towards.
-
Why am I okay with it... Well, mostly because I always assumed it would happen. Coming from an MMO style background, this has always been the case. Gerrig gjallarhorn was nothing compared to getting Perditions Blade in WoW. When the first expansion dropped, we got new stuff that out leveled the old stuff. Which was cool. In a loot based game I expect this. Personally, if they left them all behind I'd be fine with that too. The time I had before I got it, the time I've had with it and then excitement of getting it are still real. I'm quite sure people coming from an fps background may have a different viewpoint and expectations.
-
Because i'm 99% sure we will have a replacement for ghorn and the rest of them i rarely use. Who really uses plan c, pocket infinity etc etc etc outside of pvp? People are just over reacting, the good exotics will have a v2 version and the rest are being left behind. Ghorn is a crutch and i'm happy its being left behind.
-
I didn't sink 700 hours getting my gear for them to be obsolete. Fool me once...
-
I'm fine with it because I haven't used them recently anyways. I have almost every exotic weapon and titan armor. Out of all of those the only ones I have used in the last month is the Arimentarium, the Helm of Inmost Light, and the Helm of Saint-14.
-
We'll find a new gally , a new exotic to cheerish and covet. We will never forget the Gally and what it's done for us. Let us never forget the grind, the agony and the journey we took to get it. It's time to turn the page and find a new unicorn.
Gally , Gone but not forgotten
