Did you people even think about it ramifications of this? You guys are aware that the gally and other year one exotics are going to be "frozen in time", never to be upgraded ever again. Now, I could be a bitch on the forums, calling people idiots, or claim that they are bungie's sheep.... But I'm not going to be a bitch.
My question is, WHY you are okay with the gally ( and for the sake of having a good discussion: other one year exotics ) being left behind? For most of us, these exotics (like gally) were not easy to get. I just wonder why you guys are fine leaving them behind after countless months are grinding.
UPDATE: What I mean by calling people names, is that I could be toxic like some people are. I don't want to be that toxic person. All I wanted to have a good discussion about this.

Imagine Gally year 10 (when the REAL destiny is released..9999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999 Dmg. One shots Atheon, Crota, Skolas, and Oryx...how boring is that?
-
I'm okay with it because, aside from acquiring new exotics, we don't know if Gjally and co. will be "frozen in time" forever. And it really isn't hard to get exotics if you play the game a lot.
-
Because they're basically releasing as much content with TTK as the of copy of destiny. There's going to be a large amount of new gear probably along with more DC later so why does it matter. They're changing the game so we don't have to be doing VoG for 2 years straight. It's like a car it's will always be upgraded and features will become useless. There's a reason you don't see cassette tapes in vehicles these days
-
I have a feeling it will be brought back in the future. Like upgradable in a couple years or new version or whatever.
-
IMO, it should have been all or nothing. Selecting a few to create a year two version with new perks is a little odd.
-
Who wants to use the same thing for 2+ years...it's boring. Gally is a hated weapon for me even tho it recently dropped for me(and bought 2 from xur) it don't change the fact I played a year without it, and saw how the game and community played everything around gally so I'm glad it's not upgradable. Gally ruined the game,it's been crutched out xD... Anyway why do you even hate this? Do you wanna use gally for 10 years? I don't understand the point of these posts :(

Edited by blackwater1995: 8/21/2015 11:39:47 AMI love ghorn i was a lucky one that got it week 2 from xur. The ghorn had a good run in year 1 but its had its fill and its time to enjoy some new exotics. As for other guns they moved forward some of the more prominent ones like red death suros and thunderlord and left behind some of the unimpressive ones like SGA and pocket infinity
-
Just ready for the new gear. The fun of discovering the power of my new guns. The same feeling I had early on in year one. I will miss my LDR and Ghorn but... Time to move on. Really nothing more than that.
-
I don't give a shit basically
-
Out with the old, in with the new. All there is too it
-
Because I believe if bungie can make kickass year one weapons they might be able to make even more kickass year two ones. Also, SWORD!

Why am I okay with it? We don't need them. New exotics bring new life to the game. Some of the old weapons, not just exotics but legendary weapon to were too good. Gjallarhorn, Fatebriger? These two weapons are the most complained about as far as leaving them behind goes but they were just TOO GOOD. I didn't "work" hard for Gjallarhorn. I xurned it.... on week 2. I've had it for a long time and one thing Bungie pointed out is a fair argument. This weapon was exclusionary. By extension, there was a dependency on Gjallarhorn and when only players with Gjallarhorn completed all the end game content, we had these "elite players" with this superiority complex insulting and warring with other players who lacked Gjallarhorn. This caused too large a split in the community. For this reason alone we don't need Gjallarhorn, quite the opposite, it should be thrown away for a while. As for the other exotics, some of them were lackluster anyway. Just because we aren't seeing new and improved models dosen't mean we can't see them in the future, not just expansions but game releases too. Bungie confirmed our character development will carry into future Destiny releases. If Bungie's servers are now set to "remember" the exotics we acquire, they may can make a comeback. We shouldn't be so dismissive immediately and lets not mention that we have new exotics coming. Lets not forget this guy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=epygzfHaDV8

It's fine. I used my galley for everything I could. But I'm excited for new stuff. I barely play the game anymore because it's same shit every time I do.
-
Bungie should be making new exotics/content good enough that we don't feel the need to use the year one weapons. Not saying I don't want to use my year one exotics, it's just that if the opposite was the case we would be criticizing Bungie for recycling old content, not innovating and just generally bring lazy
-
Especially when Bungie shows that all it can make is cool looking exotics that never feel exotic.
-
I'm okay with it because I too wanna see these new weapons, what they're capable of, and how it'll change my playstyle. My thing is, why bother with tuning some of these old pve exotics if we aren't gonna be using them in the new content? They said not all exotics are coming forward at this time. I can already see it..Future dlc with the cabal, the return of the gjallarhorn lol.
-
I feel like this is not umexpected, that's why I don't mind. They said they were going to give us blues that were better than our current armor, so doing the same to weapons does not suprise me. Additionally, it's year two. I think it's fitting that we are moving on to all kinds of new weapons and armor. If you think about it, all of us 34s are basically getting reset to when we first started playing. A brand new subclass to level up, 20 straight levels to gain, etc. Also, since year 1 weapons are left behind, that means we will get more than 3 exotics with TTK :^)
-
I prefer to move on. Gally is a beast, but we're going into year 2. What's the fun of taking all the same weapons? Also not trying to offend anyone here but gally, especially, dumbs down game play. Personally I cannot wait to see what new weapons become king of the hill. Heaven help us if the new exotics are balance. What a beautiful world it will be.
-
Over half of Exotic armor and weapons are being left behind. People are crazy.
-
Edited by monkyken: 8/21/2015 11:27:03 AMThe weapons now work off the total light level you have, so if your total light level is 280 but your using an old exotic (ghorn) it will still be useful and effective in all but the highest end content. Thats why I don't mind as I don't feel the old stuff is becoming irrelevant. - I don't care about Ghorn personally nerf it into the ground as its been a crutch for to long. If I could bring one weapon it would be fatebringer, I hope to find a similar replacement gun in TTK.
-
Because you can still use those weapons on what you use them for now, just not the NEW stuff. They made NEW weapons for the NEW content. You can't be upset about new content.
-
I just wish vex was coming with us
-
Edited by Vellither: 8/21/2015 11:25:23 AMIm soooooo fck happy about this every nooob with a ghorn thinks that is a pro player and in every hard part of the game they using a ghorn synth and again ghorn See you in year two !!muhahaha

I have had galli since last October, along with the majority of exotic weapons. I loved my fatebringer black hammer and galli for pve may they rest in piece. I'm exited for new stuff though, those of us who have put over 1k hours into the game are ready to move on and find new stuff. You know the most exited I get in the game anymore is when my friends and I find a new glitch or one is posted online, new stuff is what I crave. Enjoy your weapons and cherish the memories, but please move on.
-
I'm fine with it because, let's face it, the only thing people would use would be gally
-
Out with the old and in with the new
