Did you people even think about it ramifications of this? You guys are aware that the gally and other year one exotics are going to be "frozen in time", never to be upgraded ever again. Now, I could be a bitch on the forums, calling people idiots, or claim that they are bungie's sheep.... But I'm not going to be a bitch.
My question is, WHY you are okay with the gally ( and for the sake of having a good discussion: other one year exotics ) being left behind? For most of us, these exotics (like gally) were not easy to get. I just wonder why you guys are fine leaving them behind after countless months are grinding.
UPDATE: What I mean by calling people names, is that I could be toxic like some people are. I don't want to be that toxic person. All I wanted to have a good discussion about this.

If you love ghorn so much why don't you marry it?
-
I'm okay with it so people can stop bitching about it

Almost all the complainers mention all the time spent grinding. If you participate in grinding, then you will never fully enjoy this game. You are turning it into a chore. I'm not saying I didn't put in time in hopes of getting the reward I wanted. Or spend time completing all the bounties for the day for XP. But I didn't "grind" for this stuff. As long as I was having fun, I kept playing. Which is why I will be doing the nightfall when I get home. I don't need anything to drop for me. I got everything I want but Vex. But I like doing the nightfall. Especially solo. Side note. I wouldn't be surprised if they release year two versions of the other year one exotics over the course of year two. So that's something to look for.
-
My biggest question is, why nerf the stuff they're leaving behind? Their logic no longer makes sense.
-
I'm used to mmo gameplay, so it's not very surprising. With other mmos you would have lost your gear the first expansion.
-
Because I want to try the next best thing and I don't want to have to use gally for the next 9 years
-

Change and struggle ARE the human condition. I'm at peace with it. It gives me something new to strive for.
-
Stfu! It's a game.
-
Progress. You don't see people using horse carriages as a viable means of transportation anymore, now we use cars and planes and other vehicles. It is all about the forward movement. The Gjallarhorn and other exotics are great, of course, and they'll stay in my vault, but for the sake of creating newer and better weapons, I will put them aside. It's gonna be fun using these new guns as well. Plus, if it bothers me that much over losing some time spent in a video game, I'd probably take a break from it and work on how I perceive importance of things.

My take? This is an example of the few ruining it for the majority. So many LFG groups were "Max Gally only" and with RNG, it was super broken in Year 1. Year 2 afforded Bungie a chance to reset it all, creating a new meta. The super OP weapons are being left behind for the moment. It might be possible that they get upgraded to Year 2 in the future after new favorites have been established. My biggest take-away? We had one full year to play with a certain weapon set. Now they're bringing new weapons in. Year 1 was beta and damage control. I'm personally looking forward to Year 2.

My opinion has evolved a bit on this. I think any exotic you can only "earn" from a bounty, i.e thorn, should always be relevant because that is truly something I've earned. I'm willing to do away with the others for newer exotics.
-
I used to play wow back in the day and I was expecting stuff to become obsolete in this way. There are a lot of games that do this as they progress. Most of those games are PC games tho so I guess it's new and scary to some folk.
-
Because change is good. If Gally and other year 1 exotics were going to be year 2, it would be the same as year 1. Using the same stuff all the time is boring. I went through 99% of year 1 without gally, so it will be no different in year 2.
-
Im alright with it because it shows the games evolving i remember being lvl seventeen thinking id stick with my shingen e for the rest of the game
-
At least with the blueprint system you can dismantle all those exotics you've been "collecting." I'll dismantle everything except what I intend to use, and of course my raid gear.
-
I am okay with it because that means a new generation is coming. I will find a new weapon that burns Valus Ta'aurc to the ground. It's what we Destinerds do
-
Did somebody say [Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker] ?!?!
-
Simply put its time for new tactics.
-
Two reasons for not caring, first being I don't care too much for my items, there's always going to be something better. Second reason is because those are the exotics that have been making ingame activities a bit too easy, and I like challenges. Fite me irl, I'm riped.

I figure it's the same as if you played Borderlands extensively and then bought Borderlands 2 when it came out. Yes, technically it's a DLC but it enhances the game so much that it's practically new. Also, I really don't think everyone would want to use Gally for the next 9 years of Destiny. Variety is the spice of life, i'm bored of NEEDING Fatebringer, Black Hammer, Gally, etc. That is my opinion.
-
Because I want more ways to play
-
I want to use new stuff. My legs work just fine.
-
Because new stuff makes the game fun. Did you really expect to get one gun and use it forever??
-
I am completely okay with it. We don't know what weapons Bungie has in store for us. Like any good mmo, armor and weapons should become obsolete. It is all about the hunt for better gear. For all we know there could be a Super Gally..... *just gave myself cold chills* Personally, even I know they won't make it, but I would love an auto rifle that every bullet fired is a different element. Arc, Fire, and Void. It wouldn't even be over powered because burn would be harder to do. Call it Taste the Rainbow or something. Lol!

You do realize that Tyson said, "only some of them are coming forward right now". Do you all have selective hearing or something? "right now" does not translate to losing X, Y, or Z exotic weapon permanently in year two. So to say that we are losing them, or to use any variation of that term, makes everyone that says so, look very foolish.
