Great Scott! It's a thread dedicated to violently bashing Bungie's skull into Activision's skull until all that is left is what looks like the aftermath of a Mortal Kombat fatality?! ..... Yes!
Year 2. How adorable to call the upcoming "The Taken King" expansion the beginning of "Year 2." I would dare say they're finally done beta-testing Destiny on all of us and are now ready to release the full game; not before charging you full-price...again...to get it.
Every single thing countless players were grinding for for the past year or so are going to mean absolutely nothing come September. Remember the Gjallarhorn you kept playing "Vault of Glass" over and over again to get? The countless Nightfalls? What about that glorious Fate Bringer you finally upgraded with that oh-so elusive Etheric Light? All the exotic armor and weapons you played hours upon hours of the game in hopes of finally attaining? Do you remember that? Pepperidge Farm remembers. Bungie doesn't seem to remember all the dedication to the game, though. Isn't that kind of weird? I think it is.
Why don't we take a look at the big "The Take King: Legendary Edition" and actually break that down, hmm? Spending another $80 gets you the base-game (which has had content blocked ever since the first DLC), the two expansions of "The Dark Below" and "House of Wolves" (which has had new gear added, we'll get to that shortly), and "The Taken King" itself. Why would you purchase all of that when, quite literally, all the content of the base-came and both DLCs are to be rendered pointless? You cannot upgrade them to the new Light levels and Damage levels. Why would anyone purchase useless content? For the "story?" Heheh... Heheh..hahaha... Hahahahahaha.. Ahahahahahahaha! Stop it, stop it....my ribs...they hurt...I can't breathe...
They literally tell you that all your old armor and weapons are useless because the way you upgrade the new stuff is by feeding it the old stuff. They want it all gone. They want you to forget you've been playing a $60 beta this entire time; though, if you bought the season pass or the two DLCs separately it came to about $100. Now the real game is being released but at full-price and then some, if you want everything. Really, who doesn't want the new d-pad actions and class item things? Oh, right, competent people don't.
From the very first DLC, base-content of the game was blocked whenever if you didn't pony-up another $20. The base-content of the game included weekly Heroic and Nightfall strikes; however, if you didn't buy the most-current DLC then you were blocked from playing them whenever they were in the rotation for those events. Instead of adding a secondary Heroic, or Nightfall, or both to somewhere on your map for those with the DLC to play and gain new, exclusive content, they simply cut-off those who didn't give them more money. "Hey, you like playing the Nightfall? Well too f*cking bad! Give us more money or you won't get to play that base-content of your $60 game any random week we choose." The funny thing is, those who paid for the DLCs didn't get anything "new," really, either. All you got was the ability to play the weekly strikes without interruption (something that was in the base-content) and play missions in the exact same locations only you maybe went from the end to the beginning of the original mission in that area. It looked new but it really wasn't; you just played the map backwards.
Now, not only will "The Taken King" add to that same, idiotic concept of being locked-out of base-content whenever but it renders all original gear and both...BOTH...DLCs' gear useless except to get rid of. All your hard work to finally get the Gjally or that Icebreaker or that coveted Fate Bringer or your at-long-last Thorn...it all means nothing because everything gets left behind and cannot, will not, be upgraded. It's only food for the machine....literally.
I made a comment on Facebook on Game Rant's page about the "Year 2" stuff revealed and someone called it "evolving" and that I "should evolve with it." Let me check this mic. One...two.. One...two... That's NOT evolving! That is beta-testing. Here's a bunch of stuff for you to play with and work hard to build, gather, craft, grind for, and so on. Now we take what works and what doesn't and release the full game; which means, not everything is carrying over to the game's full-release. That is EXACTLY what we have here and it's absolutely pathetic people want to give these leeches more money to just do it to them again. It's like that spouse that keeps being beaten relentlessly; bloody nose, broken jaw, black eyes, bruised ribs...the works...and keeps coming back thinking, "Oh, they'll change. I know they will. I just have to keep giving them all of me until they do. Even though it's been a steady pummeling into the floorboards for the better part of a year. It'll get better. They'll change."
Please don't give them your money. You don't beat a virus by giving it what it wants. Starve it until it's too weak to fight and finds itself forced to listen to its hosts. If you've pre-ordered "The Taken King" then I sincerely hope you fight to get your money back. Don't give them another $40-$80 for something that should have been in the game from the start. You know what I'm talking about. That word that almost every other game in existence has in it from the start. You know..."content."
These game publishers and developers have got to stop forcing an unfinished $60 beta on us and then release $10, $15, and $20 DLC add-ons to it like it's actually "extra content" when it should have been a part of the game at the beginning. This may get taken down, I wouldn't be surprised. I'll re-post it as many times as I want to. Here, Facebook, IGN (the kings of choking-down Bungie's half-hard c*ck), and anywhere I can to reach as many as possible. It has to stop. It needs to change. Don't let them bleed you dry any longer, people. I don't care what you keep telling yourself but they will not change unless we make them change.

I'm definitely buying TTK now.
