From what I remember, the exotics start out with their main perk. They didn't really delve into how the other perks unlock sadly. But to me, it won't matter. I guess im one of the few that enjoy leveling up weapons and armor, if that's what we have to do.

For armor it looks that way, but Suros Regime's main perk wasn't unlocked on the Taken King version. Speaking of which, I don't think just calling it Suros won't cut it anymore since we have a crap ton of Suros weapons now lol.
