No matter what bungie does the forums will explode with hate, the best example is hatred towards the belief that Gjallarhorn was removed from xurs drop table, and then the hatred that he actually sold it. Many people wish to hang on to old gear but I think you'll find just as many excited about the idea of starting over. Bungie has made a hugely popular game that has only improved so personally I think they know what they're doing and that it won't ruin their game

  • This really is what I hate about the other side of this debate. No actual reasoning, logic or evidence that making year 1 weapons and gear obsolete is going to improve the game, jut assurances that Bungie knows what they're doing, and that we'll like it in the end. I'll say to you the same thing I say to everyone that tries to tell us to let it go: 1) How does making my weapons and gear obsolete improve my gameplay experience? 2) How would carrying them over into year 2 harm the experience of other players? Answer those two questions well, and I might reconsider my position on the topic.

  • i like the way you think your ideas are different than I have heard before. speaking from a lore perspective your gear is obsolete compared to weapon foundry gear and would never compare (exotics being the exception as they were fashioned to be closer to golden age weaponry). making your old weapons obsolete would improve your experience because it would be like playing the game for the first time again. as your experiencing the story you also get the thrill of getting better and better guns until finding your new max weapon. being able to run the taken king all the way through with out picking up a new gun could ruin the taken king for you. I suppose other players would not be harmed by legendary weapons being able to be carried over its more so to force you to explore the taken king to its fullest

  • I honestly don't care about a lore perspective, to be honest, and I don't see why my experience in TTK would be ruined by using my old weapons. I love these weapons. Why would I not want to use them? And why should I want to play the game for the first time again? I can make a new character if I want to do that; I don't need Bungie to do it for me. Your argument for making year 1 weapons obsolete is based on supposition and assumptions that I will like something which, presumably, you do. Will I want to try out some of the new weapons? Of course! But I would prefer to decide for myself which weapons I should use. Weapon selection is only one aspect of TTK, which can be experienced fully while still keeping old gear relevant. If year 1 gear had a way to upgrade, there would still be nothing keeping me from trying out the new weapons, but I would have the added benefit of going back to my old favorites if I decide that those new weapons aren't really for me.

  • I think what bungie is pursuing is you experiencing a hundred percent of the taken king not just picking a gun and then going back to old reliables. Making new guns stronger instead of just replacing them gain is the best way to make the new ones go to guns

  • As I said, there is nothing about giving year 1 weapons Infusion that would prevent me from experiencing 100% of TTK. If the new weapons are good, I'll start using them regularly. But if Bungie follows the same pattern that it has with the last 2 DLCs, then it's likely that I'll want to stick with my old gear anyway because the new stuff doesn't measure up in performance. Or, it's entirely possible, that even though the new gear is great I simply prefer the old stuff, and I'd like to stick with it. The problem is, Bungie doesn't want to leave that choice to the players. If this really is "our legend" then why can't we make our own choices about weapons and gear? If the weapons and gear really will be so much better than the old stuff, then why not let us see for ourselves and then decide to move on? If our time really does matter to Bungie, then why are our old weapons getting left in the dust?

  • The original whites and greens from the campaign are still usable at level 20 but you choose your current legendaries because they are better. In the same way the taken king will have better weapons that you would most likely use. Your argument is the taken king weapons won't be better but they will because they'll be stronger. To me it sounds like your argument could be made for ascending current rare gear

I didn't have any real need to grind out greens and whites, and I never really used one for anymore than 2 levels or so. Not true of the legendary gear. Due to the fact that we had to "level them up" so to speak, and the fact that there was no reason to drop them for something higher level, meant that many legendary weapons tended to stick around for quite a while. As such, much like a favorite car, or a preferred gun in real life, players got a feel for their weapons, if only due to the commitment required to bring them to full power. As to your implication that TTK gear will be stronger: Yes, of course. Numerically it will be stronger, but my point was never about raw damage, it was about performance. As an example, I like the way that Vision performs, I don't like the way that Fang and Leash perform.
