Oh boy, sorry my vault was literally full. Sorry I had to delete something oh no.
And from what I heard in the stream, sounds to me like they are letting you indeed get your stuff back.
I honestly dont believe you. I guess we will just find out when TTK releases.

Its honestly a matter of programming. To keep a running record of every player's drops over the last year would amass a ridiculously large database of essentially useless information. If the game had to request that massive amount of information, even just upon first launch, Destiny servers would be down from 9/15 - Christmas. (yes, hyperbole, but you get what I'm saying)... They have mentioned that RNG will be weighted to increase your chances of getting drops that you don't have, but thats only going to take into consideration what you HAVE currently, not what you've HAD ever.

Software developer here. Keeping and processing this information on their servers is no problem at all. The game wouldn't need to get this information, they could run those calculations when the servers are down for the update. I doubt they have actually done it though, doesn't seem like they'd have the foresight for something like this.

It just all depends on the dedication bungie has for us..
-
No, it does not depend on that at all... You apparently have no conception of how software works, and I haven't the time or patience to explain the technical limitations, so lets leave it at this: No, you will not be able to retrieve exotics/emblems/shaders/etc that you have previously dismantled. However, I don't believe that they are removing existing content, so if you dismantled a Y1 emblem or shader, there shouldn't be anything prohibiting you from obtaining it once more.

I found this, looks like I was right. As long as you have found them we will get them. Bungie does care :)

Why are we still on this again? I was just being hopeful. I could honestly care less, I have the two exotics I want for TTK.
