Hello fellow guardians, Titans Warlocks and Hunters of all sorts, today, I ask you lend me your ears.
It has come to my, and, well, everyone's attentions that our forums, are, to put it bluntly, unorganized and salty. I propose a solution to this plague, something to unite us all under one house, and, give Bungie a single, powerful, community voice to listen to at the same time. With my idea, we could both tell Bungie exactly what we want, and demand, as a whole, that it is delivered, and finally heal our broken community. Without further ado, I present, The United Forum Council Project:
Imagine this: A democratically elected council of community members, chosen specifically to both communicate our ideas to Bungie, and help keep our community together at a moral level. The council members would have the following responsibilities:
- Looking after and calming the community during times of crisis (an example would be a current event not worth bringing up)
- Taking voted for ideas strait to Bungie's door
- Representing the community as a whole, and improving our reputation
Now I know what your thinking, "Turtle, this isn't a democracy, it's a Republic!" and that, my friend, is where this next part of the project comes in. You, yes YOU, as a member of our community, get to propose, and vote for, any ideas you want sent to Bungie. That's right, the council members have no power to make their own ideas when in office, only to present the community's. They do however, get their one vote. Ideas can be anything ranging from "Nerf a weapon" to, "Bring this map back into rotation" to "Bring blades of Crota back" and more! However, you have responsibilities also.
- To educate yourself on the vote, and vote accordingly
- Elect a proper official to office, or Impeach an official if needed
- To not be biased, and keep in mind what is best for the game, and community
I hope you all consider this idea, and how it would change Destiny, it's community, and our relationship with Bungie. Good day, and may RNGesus bless you all.

I nominate Damustr8bbygurl

to bad if anyone is even level 2 they won't give a shit about anything ANYONE else has to say, really the "officials" will probably only read the first page of most trending so if your not the most popular person on the forum you wouldn't even get noticed
-
Uh nooo... We have ninjas
-
Sounds like a fantastic idea. I'd love to see this implemented.
-
You spelled straight as 'strait.' Get blocked
-
I'm all for it. I think there are small details maybe I feel could be added, but overall I like the principle of having a little organization. Of course I'm retired military so I like order. Lol
-
I really like that. I'd want to run!
-
Lol hell no, they'll probably pick guys like longface and those guys that sign their own posts.
-
Well I like your vision, just that there are lots of kids, you should take that into account, but otherwise it's a good idea, so take a cookie
Bump
-
You my friend deserve a cookie. (Donald trump cannot run for leader because we have morals)
-
Bradbury - Fahrenheit 451, read it.
-
#Tyranny? #Communism? #Monarchy?
-
I'm here with the cookies and positive energy!!!!!! :D :D :D Salty free and hyper positivity :D :D
-
There are too many kids on these forums. Thanks to the "Destiny" application, these kids have easy access.
-
Sorry, all I see you doing here is adding to the salt level with this. If you were really serious about this idea you would have went to Bungie with it since without Bungie's backing and support it is meaningless.
-
Haha talking politics to a community where 50% are just kids.
-
Never happen. Nice try though.

Edited by The Worm Keeper: 8/18/2015 11:33:38 PMAka a community leader Cozmo/DeeJ Although I feel like they could do better, choose someone like (for example) me. And average player, all three classes, decent grimoire, a day one player. Some one who uses forums a lot for advice and looks on here to see awesome ideas. Someone who posts often, although that someone should never choose a side, and instead remain neutral and with the facts. Mainly someone who plays daily, has played a long time, has played as all classes, has "seen it all." Someone who knows the feel of complaints on the forums. I.E. Someone complains about thorn on the forums, the community leader should feel for them and agree. Or if someone complains about something silly, the community leader should know that it's a silly thing, or at least test it to see. Without all three classes, complaints about a titan and/or warlock go unchanged for longer than a hunter (used as an example because that's all cozmo has). I don't think a certain group should ever "control" (I know you're not talking about literal control) a forum. Leave it to one or two people who can directly contact bungie. Hell, maybe have a hundred other little guys that can scout out for the community leader and report to him, then he can test, and report to Bungie. Just my thoughts

? This is what the forums were made for. As cool as this idea may be it's already happening everyday.

Reply for later

How can I get in on this?

A noble suggestion, but the only way it would work is if Bungie got on board with it. Part of the reason this community is so chaotic is because Bungie doesn't communicate with us. They're like a distant uncle, showing up every so often with candy or drugs, but otherwise leaving us mostly in the dark. As a result, we don't really have much guidance in terms of what to discuss, so we just discuss anything, in any matter we please. There's also the problem that most of us are assholes protected by anonymity, which is impossible to fix without bans. And I wouldn't trust anyone on these forums, elected or otherwise, to be responsible in banning people from posting or commenting.
-
I hear you but there will always be somebody who tries to distort some sort of power struggle, even in a democracy, there will be too much things to factor in to unify the community. What are your suggestions to keep said people in line?
-
It's a noble idea but one that is also open to abuse much like the forum we have already.
-
Great in theory, probably won't work in practise, like democracy, or communism, or fascism or... Uhhh... Has any society ever worked?
-
Demand? What eight to demand anything does anyone have? Grow up. It's a video game, not Parliament.
