Edited by CoherentBadger: 8/16/2015 9:49:29 PMEarly 1900's. It didn't last long, but imperialism definitely was done by the US. Also the Roosevelt Corollary made the U.S. active in international affairs (in the Western Hemisphere).

I think you need to look up the definition of empire. USA has never been an empire.

Edited by CoherentBadger: 8/16/2015 10:08:16 PMThe definition of empires varies, just like the definition of a terrorist varies. To me a empire is a nation that practices imperialism and is constantly looking to expand. The U.S. did just that The ultimate goal of an empire is to expand

An empire is having more than one country under one rule, the U.S. Never did that
-
Edited by CoherentBadger: 8/16/2015 10:44:23 PMThe U.S. government ruled directly or put US followers in power in these nations. The philippines Guam Cuba Hawaii Panama California area 23 Latin American countries Between the Spanish-American War and the start of the Great Depression the U.S. sent troops to different Latin American countries 23 times. The U.S. wanted to other throw the "tyrants" and "free" the people. After the goverments were overthrown, the U.S. picked U.S. supporters to lead so that the U.S. gov could have a say in what's going on.
-
So? They didn't rule them
-
Edited by CoherentBadger: 8/16/2015 10:58:43 PMDoesn't matter. If that was the case the British empire would have been significantly smaller. They did not directly rule every (as in most) nations. Also the Mayan empire would have never been a empire if that's how it worked. Its pretty evident that the U.S. did have a empire. If you don't want to believe that, that's fine by me. Youre right, the US never ruled Hawaii, Cuba, California, Panam, or the Philippines.
sarcasm
It seems like your definition of an empire is different from the English meaning for that word.
-
Seriously is the Mayan empire not an empire?
-
Not sure, but I think they weren't.
-
Facepalm, I'm done here
-
All I know about the Mayans that they were a civilization that was in Mexico, I didn't know much about, so if you do than by all means go ahead and enlighten me.

It fits I don't know what you're talking about. You should research the age of imperlisim.

Is the Mayan empire not a empire?
