Just curious because I hear people raving about it on the forums every time Xûr sells something good. Leave reasons for your answers below.

The question you need to ask is: Is the amount of effort I'm doing to get _____ exotic equate into the exotic's worth? In the case of Gjallarhorn being Xurned, the answer is a whol hearty no. Let me explain: First off, we're buying exotics, the best weapons in the game, with a rare currency. It's amazing how we upgrade them with exotic shards and some can be obtained through exotic bounties. But we buy them with a rare material. People are buying the best weapon in the game, with a rare material. I wouldn't call that earning. Let's look at the value of these coins, shall we? I say these coins are close to worthless. Why do I say that? Because you can get them from: •Strikes •Engrams •PoE chest •Three different sets of weeklies •nightfalls •cryptarch packages •public even packages •New monarchy packages •Dead orbit packages •Future war cult packages That's a lot of ways to get a currency to purchase the best rocket launcher in the game. It would seem like we'd use a currency that isn't so widely found in the game but sadly, we don't. You don't have to work for strange coins, the game practically gives them to you. Let's look at the pricing. Gjallarhorn was sold for 17 strange coins, correct? So was No Land Beyond. Infact, I think no land beyond sells for 23 since it's a primary. Tell me, is No Land Beyond's value anywhere close to Gjallarhorn's? No? Then why is it the same price? In the world of economics, we price things based on value. Can you really say that buying Gjallarhorn from a vendor that sells the best rocket launcher in the game at the same price as one of the worst exotic, "earning" said Gjallarhorn? To me, the answer is an obvious no. The person who got his Gjallarhorn from beating Skolas, he earned it. The person who got his from Crota, he earned it. The person who got it from Atheon, he earned it. The person who got it from the lighthouse, he definitely earned it. (Provided he didn't get carried) To summarize: Buying Gjallarhorn from Xur isn't actually earning a Gjallarhorn in my opinion. Because they are buying it with a rare currency, said currency is worthless and the pricing is dumbfounding. Disclaimer: I'm not an elitist. I'm very happy that everyone has a Gjallarhorn. Now PvE will be easier. I'm simply answering the question.
