A study conducted by Doctor Norman Godfrey suggests a new development that should be taken into account when using normal houseware. Godfrey took his study to the nearby Washington University School of Medicine to gather help for his study.
"It's been a real pleasure to work with Mr. Godfrey," said Jacob Smitherdeen, an alumni of WUSM, "[This study] has been an eye opener! It's hard to imagine all these disastrous elements sitting on top of your common household objects!"
The study, conducted from August 2009 to April 2015, followed the daily lives of 500 college students tracking everything they put into their mouths in order to find a common denominator of where the most deadly bacterias coalesce.
"It appears that spoons, even above bathroom utilities, harbor the most numerous and [most] potentially harmful bacteria on its surface," says Dr Godfrey.
In their data collection, which is available here, shows the correlation between bacteria found on kitchen utinsels against bathroom utilities compared with the different bacteria found on each.
