Okay Dads, it's that time again. In preparation for the upcoming DLC, The Taken King, it's time the clan ranks to be purged of inactive members.
For all of our newest members, welcome to NightsWatch! For the long version on what this Purge is and the reason for it here: https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/92134971/0/0
The nutshell version is that we want to keep the clan tag available for the most active members of the group. The purge does not remove anyone from the DoD NightsWatch group, only attempts to make available more clan slots for active Destiny players by removing inactive group members from the clan roster.
We will not kick you out of NW for taking a break from Destiny to play another game. In fact DoD extends beyond Destiny. We WILL kick you out of NightsWatch for breaking the Golden Rule: Don't Be A Dick. If you're in a DoD clan, it's assumed that you're mature enough to know where the line is. We've always had a good group so my Ban Hammer is very dusty and I prefer to keep it that way.
The process for the purge will be different this time as I've discovered how to reset the clan tag for everyone at once. This post is to prepare you guys for what is coming. The actual reset will occur on Friday, 28 August. On that day I will deactivate the clan tag for all group members, and you will have to send a new clan request to have it restored. This will obviously be a first come, first serve situation, hence the two week notice, hopefully giving plenty of time for those returning after a hiatus before the DLC drops a chance to catch up. I know this will go over well with some and maybe not so well with others, but I think it's a fair way to run it. It's also a LOT less work for me.
After NightsWatch fills up, I will roll anyone who wants the tag into NightsWatch II. I know that some on our Group roster are just guests from other DoD clans who are here to keep up with friends in NW, and I have no problem with that. But we have a current group member count of over 350, so I would love to get more people a clan tag by using the expansion group. This would be great for those following Destiny Clan Wars. I'll even create a third if the demand is there.
For those presently garrisoned in The Shadow Tower (NightsWatch II), yes, you are welcome to submit a clan request to hop over to Castle Black.
On a different note, for newer members who are also new to the clan dynamic, I would like to advise you to just add some of our GTs ( https://www.bungie.net/en/Clan/Post/450731/81278543/0/0 ) to your friends list and jump in. You won't find any hand holding here, but if you ask for help we have plenty of people willing to provide it. The chat wall is usually always full of guys looking for Fireteam members.
See you in orbit Guardians!

This clan has grown a lot since I first I joined. I think it had around 50 members or so.
