So here I am, not a Day 1 player but pretty damn close.
Week 3, I believe it was, too late to Xurn the Gjallarhorn the first time.
So I play, and I play, and I play. Not too worried about getting Gjallarhorn specifically, but I like to collect.
Naturally, I want all the Exotics. My collection grows as I do Nightfalls, Raids, PvP, Strikes.
Soon, I have it all. All but that damn Gjallarhorn. But I persist onwards, and now my stockpile of Exotic Shards is growing.
Three characters worth of Nightfalls, Raids, etc. You get the picture.
Finally, the day arrives: August 14th, 2015. Santa Xur flies in with "That Which Burns Even the Internet".
Call me a scrub if you want, I played 1440+ hours worth of content without the Destiny Super-Weapon.
I Xurned the -blam!- out of that Gjallarhorn and danced with the jukebox for 10 minutes.
So naturally, now I want to level it up as quickly as possible, so I take a bunch of bounties. There is the Majors in a Nightfall bounty, plus I want to increase my gains, so to the Nightfall!
Easy business. Archon Priest is spanked with minimal effort.
Gjallarhorn. I got a god damn Gjallarhorn. How stupid is that?
Whatever, you know? Just, whatever.
So now it's time to pass the torch to my second character to continue the leveling. To the Nightfall!
Ready for the punchline?
GJALLARHORN.
ANOTHER GOD. DAMN. GJALLARHORN.
So I'm now the proud owner of one Xurned Gjallarhorn, and two RNG Gjallarhorns all from the same day.
I don't know whether to laugh or what.

I think the game weights RNG to make things you already have drop more frequently. After I got my first Thunderlord, I got 3 more in pretty quick succession.
-
Haha yep that seems how rng work
-
Lol, that's just typical man! This game is such a killer sometimes!

At least you didn't spend all the Strange Coins to buy the other two before they dropped... they would have been pretty expensive Exotic Shards ;)
