How did you "earn" YOUR Gjallarhorn?
I don't think I need to tell anybody that there's been a lot of salt thrown around recently by folks lamenting the fact that they had to "earn" their Haller Haller Get Gjaller, and now anybody can just buy one.
The thing is though, by definition, if anybody that had one from a drop did actually earn it, they did so only by running the one activity that granted them the drop (and by extension getting to whatever level let them run that activity). That could have been the very first thing they had ever run that could grant you an exotic, and they'd have landed on the Jellyhorn. Nothing else affected the chances, and any belief to the contrary illustrates the Gambler's Fallacy.
That led me to thinking, what did those of us who got Ballerhorn in a drop [i]really[/i] do to "earn" the (until recently) rarest of guns?
So without further ado, I'd like to be the first to recount the legendary tale of how I "earned" my GGhorn.

tl;dr ITT share stories of any low effort "feats" you accomplished that gave you a Gjallarhorn drop, demonstrating the lack of a correlation between effort and reward, thus disproving that RNG counts as "earning" any more than Xûr does.

Edit 2: It occurs to me that in the original post I failed to mention the fact that for some, their YOLOhorn dropped after a particularly difficult feat, such that they really do feel that they earned theirs. My point is not to lessen the sense of accomplishment anyone felt after acquiring their Yellerhorn, but rather to highlight the fact that due to RNG, many of us "earned" ours in really easy/silly ways, and to invite the people who are sad/angry/disappointed at everyone's favorite Splatoon cosplayer to think about whether RNG really qualifies as earning something.

Got 1 from Atheon. 4 from Gorgon box Got 2-3 from Deathsinger/Crota Got 2 from Cryptatch. 2 from Iron Banner 4 from random Nightfalls 2 from PoE 28 1 from Roc Playlist And 6 from Xûr :3 I believe in terms of the forums I am either very lucky. Or a piece of crap.

1 ReplyYou can open a chest in the wild that drops it, you didnt earn it. You could get invited to a raid right when someone is killing crota and you didnt spawn, you didnt earn it. You cant earn from random. You luck out with random.

I earned it by opening the Gorgon chest on my first VoG run, after personally -blam!-ing us over on Oracles (on accident) at least 2 times. I was the only one in the fireteam to get an exotic from that chest.

Got my first Ghorn from a legendary engram doing the loot cave farm. my friend got knucklehead radar and I was pissed because I did not want a weapon, little did I know what Ghorn was going to be lol. Then I got my second Ghorn from the 6 wins trials package and my third Ghorn was from the Flawless chest on mercury.

Vog and the other 3 where at the postmaster. Prob a gift from the destiny gods for carrying shitty players through raids.

I earned mine doing my first VOG hard and it was at the chest in the gorgons maze

Being carried through VoG, having just got the team killed 3 or 4 times in the Gorgon maze it dropped from the chest! Earned?

It's not earn. No earning at all. But I got my Gjallarhorn from the very first Iron Banner.

I got it from 28 Poe when I was a level 28 Titan on my first run carrying a hunter and a warlock through

My first came with a vex my other 2 from crota. The rest just dropped here n there

Sole Crota.. got on deathsinger very stoked when I got it. Felt like a reward matching the feat.

1 ReplyI've paid a total of 180 dollars (including the pre ordered Taken King) for the game, then did the weeklies until I had the coins, and bought it from Xur. Totally earned.
