You "earned" Thorn (if you have it). No one "earned" Gjallarhorn, doesn't matter how long you played until you got it, it was never earned, you got lucky on a random chance.
Congrats to everyone picking up Gjallarhorn today for the first time!

Uh...cough... I EARNED it the second week of destiny when my buddy Xur was selling it.
-
The people who had ghorn and didnt buy it got it by doing work if it was a legendary engram they earned the engram by working for it and if it was a raid they worked to beat that raid and got ghorn if it was a exotic chest they worked to get to it but raids are much harder than weekly heroic.
-
They worked to complete the raids or to get to the chest yea, but they didn't go there with the surety that within that chest or at the end of that raid a Gjallahorn was a guaranteed reward because it wasn't. There was a chance they might get it, just as good or better that they wouldn't. This post has come down to the difference between what you "earn" in an exotic bounty and what you actually "won" from the RNG. You got lucky, you got a Gjallahorn from a chest. However you knew if you completed task X, Y & Z, sometimes W, X, Y & Z you knew you'd end up with Thorn (as in this example). Your kid (if you have one) might get toy "X" for Christmas, there's a chance you may decide not to get it for them and get them something else instead. However if they have an allowance and save their money to buy toy "X" they've earned it. If they get all "A"'s on their report card maybe you promised it to them, and they then get all "A"'s. Guess what, they earned it. That's the difference between earning and getting lucky in THIS example.
-
then shouldnt the people want a chance to get it by luck instead of knowing they will get it because they are buying it. buying it means you suck and cant complete raids to have a chance to get it the only thing you can do is buy.
-
" buying it means you suck and cant complete raids" I call total bullshit on this one. There are people that have completed raids on both normal and hard countless times and still haven't had it drop.
-
Except you get the bounty by rng so you get that by a random drop too...so much for your logic.
-
Edited by Vendetta: 8/14/2015 3:01:10 PMOh, I see. So you didn't choose which of the 3 weapon bounties you wanted to do? I see you're in the sad camp too. My logic is sound, your counter isn't.
-
Exactly. You might not have earned the exotic bounty chance that popped up, but once you selected that bounty and did the work to complete it, you earned that exotic at the end of that journey. So glad that many of the new exotics in TTK will be bound to exotic bounties/quests we have to do so we can have a clear (and hopefully challenging) way to earn exotics.
-
Right and you chose the exact time when to get the bounty, never talked about choosing the thing but getting the bounty. Learn to read and try again.
-
If this is your best argument on this you might want to find one you're better suited for. You're wasting my time.
-
It's not like the bounty it's hard once it drops you are sure to have the wepon. I don't see really much difference except some more time sinked, alas u could get another random exotic for doing an easier activity or never get a lucky exotic drop and could take more time to do than an exotic bounty. Just my opinion
-
LMAO your one of those guys who thinks the Thorn bounty is hard? Thorn bounty hasn't been hard since vanilla.
-
Edited by Vendetta: 8/14/2015 2:53:09 PM*you're As in: You're missing the point. You actually earned the Thorn, you had to complete certain requirements to obtain it. Getting something via RNG is not "earning" something. However we now know which camp you fall into with regards to the Gjally discussions.
-
You get the bounty via RNG. Hmm...
-
Edited by Vendetta: 8/14/2015 3:19:28 PMYou chose which of the 3 weapon bounties after you got the initial bounty from "RNG" You then upon choosing that particular weapon bounty out of the 3. You then had specific tasks you had to complete before you had the usable Exotic weapon the completed bounty nets you. As opposed to opening a chest, completing a Nightfall, POE or Raid and having a chance of a shard, armor piece, shader, unnamed Exotic, Legendary or nada. Really, it's not that difficult to understand the difference.
-
Oh you put it that way. Running weeklies sounds more difficult. We earn coins.
-
Yes, that's the specific reward for running the weeklies, so you have technically earned those coins.
-
That's when I got mine, so yeah its the hardest Exotic to "earn"
-
THIS!
-
Someone who understands.
-
Thank you
-
Thank you! That's what I'm saying you only earn exotic bounties and necro
