SO, IF EVERYONE NOW HAS A GJALLARHORN...
...doesn't that mean its reason for being nerfed (have-nots being shut out of raids) is now null and void? Near enough everyone has one now, the have-nots will be so rare that no-one will care if one or two people lack the horn!!

The LFG reasoning wasn't an actual reason. It was just something to get support from those whining about it. They just didn't like how it melted enemies.

They had two main reasons 1. LFG Elitists 2. It was the single answer to everything in Destiny PvE. As they've said before, there should not be a single answer to anything in destiny. It was still the most overpowered weapon in the game. It needed this nerf.

Gally is OP as -blam!- thats a fact. Now if they sold gally like they do regular xur items it would be a game breaker.. gally makes everything easy as -blam!- because its way to overpowered. Its getting nerfed because it creates a sense of teams needing gallys and it makes everything easy. Gally is now being sold because gally is being nerfed in a few weeks. Theres no -blam!-ing way Bungie have no control over what Xur sells.. Xur hasnt sold Gally since week 2 because Bungie new it would be the carrot dangling for everyone to chase and it was way to powerful to bring into the game but now its being nerfed they dont really care.

But yeah it's pretty obvious to all intelligent ppl that the reasons for the nerf weren't what we were given. Its obvious by nerfing it yet keeping it the strongest heavy that the LFG requirement for gally will not drop, if anything it will go the other way and ppl like me who didn't require it, will.

2 RepliesThey had Xur sell the Gjallarhorn, because all of the players that suck complained about not being able to "become legend" and get the emblem, because they were unable to beat Skolas on the 35 PoE.

im still sure the nerf wont be that bad...the initial dmg of ghorn is already good...in top of that the reload speed,the fire rate,tracking and grenade and horshoe as a secret perk...even if they nerf the dmg of the wolfpack it will still be awesome

Thats not the reason. They didn't want the solution to every boss be "blast it with your gjallarhorn" they could do that by making the bosses something other than bullet sponges, but whatever

People act like they haven't been planning to nerf gally since launch. Why would they release the best gun into the game in year 1 and have it remain the best for all the 10 years they plan to release content? This nerf is happening so that the best new exotic does the most damage without having to be overkill. Numbers are obviously not accurate for the sake of simplicity but here's what I mean: Gally currently does 5000 total damage. Nerfed gally will do 4000 total damage. Unnamed exotic from TTK will do 5100 damage, or something similar. They did it to make the new top tier exotic appear marginally better. By lowering the standard of comparison( the gally) they are lowering how powerful a new gun must be to outclass gally. This nerf was coming whether people cried for it or not.

The last outrage that came to these forums was when icebreaker sold for the first time. Many cried for a nerf; it didn't happen. With the Gjallarhorn, the only thing getting nerfed are the wolfpack rounds. The initial damage value will still be there (unless there's something I misread in that latest patch report).

No, that wasn't the only reason. The ghorn was being used to dodge game mechanics and that's not how the game was intended to be played.

I don't have one and get kicked from raids because I don't! It's not fair!" *Buys Gjallahorn today* "Sooooo now that I have Gjallahorn can we not Nerf it! PLEASE!?" See what I'm saying? No one likes this person. You can't have your cake and eat it too...or whatever the saying is. Accept that the Nerf is coming. Accept that there will be a time for better weapons. Just be glad you have it, no matter how you got it, whether you earned it like Smoggy or bought it from Xur.
