Obama is leaving office soon, and although he may be trying to legalize immigrants, with the current republican majority control in the other two branches it's next to impossible. To be honest it doesn't matter, cause after he steps down the front runners for the Republican and democratic parties are Trump and Clinton, and I would rather have my dog run the executive branch then those two. The only hope the Democratic Party has is if Clinton is elected so they can at least slow the republicans down (so they don't control all three branches), but like I said I don't want her elected (even though I tend to lean towards democratic views).

Sanders would be a better democrat (fully imo), however I feel trump would benefit the nation financially. He may be a complete asshole but the man has business sense. Fact remains trump looks good now because all the politicians look Bad.
-
True, Trump is clearly a sound business man and has proven it many times. Although he may help the economy and our ever growing debt (if you have a child today he will owe over $50,000 at birth!), I think he would ruin a lot of our foreign relations, seeing as so many countries have already expressed bad feelings for him. The only small hope I have for him is that he used to have some good views of things in the past (some very democratic), and hopefully only changed to a very republican heavy one to gain publicity and followers for the election but will go to a more equal ground if elected. Like you said it also helps that people like Jeb Bush (who is second to Trump) and other candidates are complete incompetent morons who have no idea what they are doing.
-
That's the biggest problem. Obama has been too focused on doing things to please other countries instead of fixing the problems here.
-
So true. I personally think we should just pullout everyone from all these foreign countries (like Iran), and although it may be considered outdated in ways, adapt a more isolationistic format, and focus on the many issues we have here (like instead of spending money on nuclear deals that we get next to nothing out of, use to help maybe fix the debt we are drowning in).
-
Complete withdrawal would be far more disastrous than you think.
-
I only mean from places where it's not completely necessary (my fault for over exaggerating). I just believe that America focuses way too much on making the world a better place in its mind and getting too involved in foreign affairs, which all it is doing is creating enemies and using resources.

As long as groups like ISIS choose to murder innocent civilians, the US will be there to strike back, especially since no other country is willing.
-
But keep in mind a organization like ISIS was partly founded or at least focused on America, by our constant intervention in foreign affairs. We have created so many enemies because of our activity, and in my opinion, after the U.S. takes care of ISIS and wipes them out, we should back out for a while and focus on ourselves to try and avoid a repeat again.
-
And who do you think national interests are being served by the US military in the middle east?
-
Right you are. He did say in an interview, once elected he would soften is tone for diplomacy purposes. Is he lying? I have no idea. But the problem of foreign affairs is a big one.
