What if...
There were SWORDS in destiny? These would be secondary short range weapons that would replace your classes melee, in return for extra range and damage. The damage would be around 3-5 slices on a level 30 hallowed knight, and 2-4 slices on a gaurdian. Depending on the size of the sword. (I'll get to that in a bit)
Most of them would have diffrent designs. With the lightest s ones being katanas and the heaviest being broadswords.
Also, these would be first person weapons, and would not have the same movement properties as Crota ' s sword. I
E, Slicing would not make you lunge, and your heavy slice wouldn't deal so much damage or have a A.O.E.
Here are the kinds of stats for the swords.
Size. Size would determine how much damage this weapon would deal, along with how fast the swing time is. (Larger size = More damage and more reach.

Weight. This plays along with the size factor. Smaller size = less weight. The less wheight means faster swing time. It also accounts for how fast you run. The lightest of swords could allow you to run slightly faster than when you are holding a gun, when the heaviest swords could make you run slower than normal. This does not affect your walk speed.
