With TTK releasing in a month, I was wondering if the Year 1 expansions would still be relevant during Year 2. I'm just returning to Destiny after a long break, and have neither expansion. Is it worth for new or returning players like me to pick up either expansion before TTK drops in order to experience everything Destiny has to offer and grab some sweet loot before September 15, or will they be outdated after TTK and be left behind in favor of the new end game content? Will there be any reason to revisit Crota's End, POE, Trials of Osiris, or other similar Year 1 content during Year 2? Are they really worth the money at this point?
In the case that they don't become irrelevant, is there reason to buy both expansions before TTK releases to gear up and experience them to prepare for TTK, rather than purchasing all of Destiny's DLC in any of the many bundles that are being offered and maybe save a few bucks? Looking forward to Destiny Year 2 and excited to see what Bungie will bring to the table.

I'll still be playing the old raids, because fun.
-
Well, why get TTK? Yes, year 1 is basically irrelevant. However, how does Oryx come of you haven't killed Crota? How do the awoken assist you if you never helped them with Skolas? I feel like they might force you to get them, though I may be wrong.
-
At this rate, nothing is relevant until Destiny finally comes to end. (Because the old becomes obsolete as the new is released.)
-
I'd say that on deciding to buy the previous expansions......... I guess not... But the only thing you would be missing out on is a emblem for completing tasks in Game like killing crota and skolas

Old gear will be relevant within maybe the first week or week and half MAYBE when TTK drops. Over time yea u will not be using it. I plan on dismantling Fatebringer myself. I'd say move on :/ lol People complain that the game was boring cuz everybody used the same stuff... But now we are being through a bunch of new stuff.. I say embrace the fact that year one stuff is being thrown out the window
-
Honestly all year one gear and missions will be irrelevant in year two. But the kicker is that you still have to own the irrelevant crap to play the relevant crap. Hell you dont even need the core game to play it. Thats why there is a consumable to give new guardians a boost so they can play it too. Id just wait to buy the bundle if i were u. Dlc bundle + TTK = $70. TTK bundle = $60. So save ur money and just wait. Ur basically paying $60 just to play TTK

I think TDB is kind of essential for the story line, how can oryx be pissed if you don't kill his son?
-
It depends your goals. It may be worth it in terms of playing through the story and raids. It is not worth it in terms of building up equipment. Once TTK comes out, everything prior to TTK, except exotics, will be obsolete except for Crucible and - as Deej "soothingly" told someone in an interview - they'll still be great for patrols.
-
I believe one day year one weapons will be ascended
-
Well aside from the veteran rewards (if you want them) there isnt a reason for you to buy them now. Buy TTK legendary edition and save some money (both previous dlcs are required to play TTK)
-
Are yo on 360 or one? (Xbox)
-
I'd say do not buy them until TTK release. The bundle they have, will save you money I believe.

Edited by Xavier: 8/13/2015 2:35:28 AMYou have to own both of the DLC to play TTK.
