When I first got the Thorn (8 months ago) It was crap, absolutely awful, but I loved it, it shot giant f-n thorns into the head of enemies, it has an awesome look fit for a game like destiny, and the sight picture was very creative. It was a great gun. Then it got it's boost, and it's popularity took off.
Bottom line, the Thorn is an awesome creation by the Bungie team, and should be taken a little less seriously on the stats side.
Good job Bungie you made a gun I never want to stop shooting.

Necro bumped

The problem I have with Thorn is that there should never be a gun that can kill a player after a gunfight is over and you lost. I kill people with Bad Juju, and the Thorn DOT damage kills me after the gunfight is over and I'm in another room.
-
Whining? I don't care about how long ago you got it. I don't care about your backstory on the gun. All I see here is a bunch of garbage crucible players who think they have some sort of skill by relying on damage over time to kill an enemy. You all use the Thorn because you're afraid you're going to lose. That weapon will NOT help you win if you are having a head to head battle against someone else with it. Man, grow some balls already and use an auto rifle.

Edited by RaiseRentForSingleMothers: 8/13/2015 10:29:47 PMIt wasn't awful it needed skill to use at that time. Something that isn't needed for it anymore.
-
I never liked the gun. Even when it was way over powered. I still just didn't like using it. So would always choose other guns
-
Thorn was never bad... it literally just had a slow reload, i was owning people with it before it became popular.
-
Too bad I got it today. Problem won't get the good MoD action.
-
Broken gun for scrubs
-
Naw, I have two and won't use that crutch. Sure, I had a rev#1 that was immensely disappointing and a m glad they make it useful. However, the first + last round glitch along with bully-gangs team-tagging players is an absurd development. Hand Cannons should not out distance Scouts and Bungie agrees. I look forward to PvE buff with stacking poison, but all of Crucible will be more enjoyable when this gun (and Last Word) get put in place.

in my opinion Thorn shouldn't get a nerf. The bounty to get him is one of the hardest in the game (also the most fun one to do). I think instead of nerfing weapons, they should buff the other weapons (and if needed increase the health of bosses). An exotic weapon or a max level character should feel powerfull to play. Same goes for gjallerhorn (just decrease the amount of wolfpack rounds) and increase damage done by other heavy weapons. if dragon's breath would have tracking I would always use this weapon, because of the look.
-
Thorn was still good before its buff. It was never crap
-
Same. 6 shots. Reloaded slower than a tank operated by paraplegics. Still an insanely fun gun. Used the hell of it back then. Will continue to
-
Thorn has always been amazing, you just never saw anyone use them until recently.
-
When the weapons tuning come out next week. Ima tbag bums like you with my suros.
-
Totally agree in my opinion it's the most aesthetically pleasing gun in destiny along with the gorn nerfed or buffed it's a visually pleasing hand cannon and I love the noise it makes too hopefully after the nerd is thorn users can use it without shame!
-
I'm with you on the thorn. I got the weapon back in September as a level 25 and had to get help for the end of the bounty. I wanted this gun when the concept art came out for it in the beta which made me fall in love with it ( not literally ). When the weapon was horrible I stilled used it and I will even when they nerf the hell out of it.
-
Damn right, i loved that gun from the second they showed it off. Is great in PvP and so much fun in PvE. My Hunter looks powerful wielding it , is just great .
-
Once it starts shootings pellets with shit range we will see if you'll still use it
-
I've got no problem with it and don't have one. Not a hand cannon fan. I still own without it. They need to stop nerfing shit and just make comparable guns of different classes
-
I have the gun, but I'm not a huge hand cannon fan in general. I'll be pleased if they iron out the gun balance so that other loadouts besides hand cannons are competitive. Playing your favorite weapon type shouldn't immediately put you at a disadvantage on every map, simply because one or two guns are too strong. Also, just watch... You may keep using it (kudos!) but people will drop it like yesterday's trash when it ceases to provide unbalanced versatility compared to every other gun. We shall see what new meta arises, and whether it is similarly weighted toward so few weapons. Here's hoping that Bungie gets it right.

Edited by Unforgiven: 8/13/2015 11:36:55 PMDredgen Yor was a Hunter and the last known carrier of the exotic Hand Cannon Thorn, which he claimed to have created himself. He was once regarded as a heroic Guardian and was known as Jaren Ward and was unstoppable in the Crucible, but he delved into the dark mysticism of the Hive on the Moon and eventually turned against his fellow Guardians, murdering Pahanin Errata, Thalor, and at least three other people. He was killed by Shin Malphur.

The nerf isnt going to be as bad as people think. The DoT stacks, so get in 3 or 4 hits, they're still dead. But once Hardlight becomes flavor of the month, people wont think about Thorn anymore. lol
-
That's exactly why I want it nerfed. So I can feel proud using it in Crucible.
-
I hear ya, thorn was my first exotic back from when I was a level 26 and damn proud of it too. It holds a special place in my heart so I'm sad to see the nerf but I see why and I'm sick of the two shot in crucible.
-
Is good but everybody use it for trials. Its more like trials of thorns
-
Thorn has its uses. I'll miss it a little.
