Why is a in-game optional matchmaking system or LFG system such a bad thing?
Both ways can only make money since you are loosing so many gamers what with the pricing of the taken king outside of the states, making year 1 weapons and gear that people spent thousands of hours acquiring obsolete, the fact you said the game will not have matchmaking for raids and other end game activities, bias towards casual gamers I call it and however many that have left prior to this point for many other reasons.
You need to do more to keep players active in the game, having to go outside the game to make a group with manual matchmaking with random's that can take 5 minutes to 6 hours is a chore and waste of time, clans are not supported in the game and we are expected to add random's to our friends list when they are not friends.
Too many better looking games are coming out, Fallout 4, Halo 5, Gears of War, why should we stick with Destiny?
rant over, I don't expect you to answer, just wanted to put this out there with a slither of hope for an answer.
thank you for your continued support for a optional matchmaking or LFG system,

EDIT: so far the only reason people are giving is that groups of noobs will be put together and fail all the time, ok that may be the case but I ask you this, did you yourself not start out as a noob, not knowing what to do, where to go, how to do things?
we all learn from mistakes.
Granted that microphones are required for Raids and my counter to that is why not simply add a forced mic setting to it so when you choose a Raid it would not let you join unless you had a mic plugged in.

This is my only continuing issue with Destiny atm. Why on earth would Bungie want players to be unable to access the content easily? Why would Bungie want to have a scenario where players will walk away? Why would Bungie want to encourage an environment where pay for completion could be encouraged? This philosophy of endgame being a challenge to access is ill conceived. Destiny's only content is endgame. Bungie seriously needs to get back on this topic. If it isn't optional matchmaking then an in-game lfg system.

But wait wait wait, on lfg sites there are always some nice groups that are down to help out noobs, especially now since all the raids are pretty easy now. Wouldnt it be easier spending 5-10 minutes finding that cool group and finishing quickly rather than matchmaking for a minute and spending hours trying to figure out the raid and finishing (or maybe not even finishing) way later?

Bungie is quoted in a team meeting as saying "It is our philosophy that high-quality gear should remain as rare as possible, and to that end, matchmaking will be limited. We want the players to continue drooling over these items; always keep them out of reach for the masses."
-
Main reason is, player should stuck longer in this game. So if they played 1000 + hours they won't stop playing and buy all shitty DLC. If not they wasted more of one month of their real life in the last year. Nobody want to see in the mirror which show him his wasted time. So to all player outside:" don't spend to much time in Destiny. Wait to buy all shitty DLC and enjoy your time with your real life friends!!!" Have a nice day!

Because they'd rather Destiny be a social experience than just some generic piece of content.
-
Because it won't work

Edited by Lost Sols: 8/12/2015 2:18:25 PMPlease answer this Cozmo and explain why Bungie would rather people not play the game than get to play with randoms met in-game.
-
They're trolling us. They're keeping high-quality items as rare as possible by not allowing us to queue up quickly to have a chance at them.
-
Bump!
so far the only reason people are giving is that groups of noobs will be put together and fail all the time
Isn't this what they get with the external "find a random" LFG anyway? A bunch of randoms who may or may not know a thing, bother using their mic or AFK? NO DIFFERENCE! Just one's external and requires a home computer or a non-work phone, and we want it in-game so we can save time (and money!).

in omm you could easily use lfg criteria: looking to build a team or looking to join a team that means theres a leader who picks and chooses his mates.
-
Bumping again. I really hope that they finally at least address the matchmaking issue to some degree in tomorrows update.
-
end-game content should be a true challenge for even the best of players. casuals are casual and should stay in casual strikes. raids are for hard-forged teams. MM group of players=/=team.
-
maybe make the tower social space an actual social space so instead of getting spammed by random invites people can put what they need to do and others can join them if they want. or how about even grouping those tower list based on what you need to do. example: im in the tower i need to do 34, 35, and vog hard. I select those activities. I then see a list of folks with similar activities they want to do then you sort out a fire team from that point rather than going out of the game or getting spammed by people who think what ever they want supersedes what you need to do. you could even enable a chat room to help sort this aswell

Bump. Optional in this case means keeping everybody happy which is a rare thing. Use it, use LfG, solo the activity, use your own group whatever. I do hope solo is still a possibility if this ever gets fixed. Even if n00bs get grouped together so what, it's optional and won't affect you if you don't use it. Plenty of people will use it let them play. N00bs will learn as we all did when n00bs. Unless of course you're a jealous, arrogant elitist who doesn't want anyone else having a chance at gear, & who needs the game to make you feel like your life has some meaning. Thats the only type of person I can think of being against this, and the only type of person Bungie is pandering to by not fixing this.
-
I like the way it is. If I am having to much problem filling a team I just camp towers. but I've picked upped enough friends from finding randoms for First raid I tend to just go to friends list.
-
The reasons people give for not having match making is nonsense. LFG on some board is the same exact thing. Just more of a pain in the ass for the players. Those who defend it, just want to feel special. If it were optional, it wouldn't change their experience one bit. Not one.
-
Bungie wants players to be a cohesive unit and work together on raids and nightfalls so that you're more like a team. I mean their opinion is stupid and optional matchmaking should be a thing but theirs is the only point that counts
-
Bungie depends too much on forums for matchmaking the fact that prison of elders has only one MM level when its a 3 player mode is just silly weekly nightfalls should have optional matchmaking aswell as dailys too
