This is the new plot line for the Taken King. Tess was captured by Oryx's goons outside of the city near the Rusted Lands. She was low on glimmer and needed to make a few extra coins before Xur came on Friday and was taken from her portable stand. Special orders have been lagging for over a year which lead her to have to solicit herself in the crucible. But Shaxx warned her, that the crucible is no place for mercy. Guess she didn't listen.
