Imagine a galaxy. A real one, with millions, upon millions of planets, solar systems, stars, etc. Now imagine a game, based around exploring a galaxy that large. Every planet is different, procedurally generated (so it's the same planet in that same part of the Galaxy for everyone), but in a way that every planet In the Galaxy is different, with different types of plants and life(if any), different environments, different compositions etc.
You can get on ground level in first person and explore each individual planet, it's life, it's environment, for probably the first time ever, by anyone.
The game itself is so big that everyone who ever plays it combined will probably never be able to see it all collectively. Each planet is vastly different from the last, with an unimaginably large area. You could spend days or weeks exploring a single planet, or years just trying to land on every planet, with no end in sight.
That, is No Man's Sky.

That sounds incredible, release date?

No confirmation yet after a quick google search, although I believe it's planned for 2016. Here's a little quote I also saw from one of the devs recently, to make your mouth water- "it would take a single player 585 billion years to simply see each planet inside the game for even a single second." The game's universe isn't infinite, but it might as well be, because no human can ever possible see all of it lol.

Whaaaat, that's crazy
-
You know what's crazier? There's like 12 devs working on this game. Go watch some trailers, and be amazed at what they're accomplishing and how they're doing it.
-
Thanks for the info btw ;)
-
No prob. It's a game quite worth the fame it gets, from what we've seen so far and what they're promising and showing, and how they're doing it.
-
Probably the game of the year (when it comes out)
-
Will do!

Also one of the Interviews with the Creator of it. Theres a coop play style to it like with Destiny how you and a friend can meet up and explore and such... BUT when every Player first starts out they all start one THIER OWN PLANET alone. And due to the sheer size of the galaxy and how in order to go further into space you need a Hyperdrive Engine. You could start on say Earth for example and your friend starts on Pluto. It literally could take you weeks before ever meeting up or possibly never ever meet at all. Now picture your on Earth and he is 7 Galaxies away...... It has an Agenda (Story/endpoint) as there is a massive Black hole in the center of the Galaxy and that is what the game is based on. You getting closer to it along the way and theres other mysterious stuff in it. There is Portal level you go to and there kind of like"Raids" where you get better gear but they are always random and stuff. If you are on foot and die you lose part of your inventory you collected. But if you are in Space and get blown up. You lose your ship and are spawned on the closest planet and need to find resources for a new one. And yes.. space Battles! You can fly and shoot and attack and so on.
